In the Name of Allâh, the Most
Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

 

(The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away,

2. 一人の盲人がやって来(て話が中断され)たためである。

 

Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullâh bin Umm-Maktûm, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).

3. あなたにどうして分ろうか,かれは清められるかも知れないことが。

 

But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)?

4. または訓戒を受け入れて,その教えはかれを益するかもしれないことが。

 

Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him?

5. だが何の助けもいらない者(財産家)には,

 

As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,

6. (関心をもって)応待する。

 

To him you attend;

7. しかもかれが自ら清めなくても,あなたに責任はない。

 

What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allâh).

8. だが熱心に(信仰を)求めてあなたの許に来た者で,

 

But as to him who came to you running.

9. 畏敬の念を抱いている者には,

 

And is afraid (of Allâh and His Punishment),

10. あなたは軽視した。

 

Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another,

11. 断じてそうであるべきではない。本当にこれ(クルアーン)は訓戒である。

 

Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Qur'ân) are an admonition,

12. だから誰でも望む者には,訓戒を念じさせなさい。

 

So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.

13. それは(アッラーの御許にある)帳簿に記されているもの。

 

(It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz).

14. 至高にして清純なもの。

 

Exalted (in dignity), purified,

15. 書記たち(天使)の手で(記録されたもの)。

 

In the hands of scribes (angels).

16. 気高く敬虔な(書記たち)。

 

Honourable and obedient.

17. 人間(不信心者)に災いあれ。何とかれは忘恩なことよ。

 

Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!

18.かれはどんなものから,かれを創られるのか。

 

From what thing did He create him?

19. 一滴の精液からである。かれは,かれを創り,それから五体を整えられ,

 

From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion;

20. (母の胎内からの)かれの道を容易になされ,

 

Then He makes the Path easy for him;

21. やがてかれを死なせて墓場に埋め,

 

Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave;

22. それから御望みの時に,かれを甦らせる。

 

Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again).

23. いや,かれが命じられたことを,(不信仰者は)果さなかった。

 

Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him.

24. かれに,自分の食物に就いて考えさせてみるがよい。

 

Then let man look at his food,

25. 本当にわれは,水(雨)を豊かに注ぎ,

 

That We pour forth water in abundance,

26. 次いで大地を裂いて切れ切れにし,

 

And We split the earth in clefts,

27. そこに生長させるものには,穀物,

 

And We cause therein the grain to grow,

28. またブドーや青草,

 

And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle),

29. オリーブやナツメヤシ,

 

And olives and date-palms,

30. 繁茂した庭園,

 

And gardens, dense with many trees,

31. 果物や牧草(がある)。

 

And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.),

32. あなたがたとあなたがたの家畜のための用益である。

 

(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.

33. やがて,(終末の)一声が高鳴り,

 

Then, when there comes As-Sâkhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet),

34. 人が自分の兄弟から逃れる日,

 

That Day shall a man flee from his brother,

35. 自分の母や父や,

 

And from his mother and his father,

36. また自分の妻や子女から(逃れる日)。

 

And from his wife and his children.

37. その日誰もかれも自分のことで手いっぱい。

 

Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others.

38. (或る者たちの)顔は,その日輝き,

 

Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islâmic Monotheism).

39. 笑い,且つ喜ぶ。

 

Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).

40. だが(或る者たちの)顔は,その日埃に塗れ,

 

And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained;

41. 暗黒が顔を覆う。

 

Darkness will cover them,

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

42. これらの者こそ,不信心な者,放蕩者である。

 

Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allâh, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers).
