慈悲あまねく慈愛深きアッラーの御名において。
Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
1. アリフ・ラーム・ラー（この）啓典は，（英知によって）守護されており，また英明にして通暁される御方からの解明である。
Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. (This is) a Book, the Verses whereof are perfected (in every sphere of knowledge, etc.), and then explained in detail from One (Allah), Who is All-Wise and Well-Acquainted (with all things).
2. （それで言うがいい。）「アッラーの外誰にも仕えてはならない。本当にわたしは警告者，また吉報の伝達者として，かれからあなたがたに（遣わされた）。」
(Saying) worship none but Allah. Verily, I (Muhammad SAW) am unto you from Him a warner and a bringer of glad tidings.
3. あなたがたの主の御赦しを請い願え。そしてあなたがたは，悔悟してかれの許に返れ，（そうすればアッラーは）定められた時期までいろいろなよいものを享受させる。また功績の多い者には，それぞれ豊富に恵みを与えられる。だがもし，背き去るならば，わたしはあなたがたのために偉大な日の懲罰を恐れる。
And (commanding you): "Seek the forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him in repentance, that He may grant you good enjoyment, for a term appointed, and bestow His abounding Grace to every owner of grace (i.e. the one who helps and serves needy and deserving, physically and with his wealth, and even with good words). But if you turn away, then I fear for you the torment of a Great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).
4. 「あなたがたはアッラーの許に帰るのである。かれは凡てのことに全能であられる。」
To Allah is your return, and He is Able to do all things."
5. 見なさい。かれらは（その敵意を）かれに隠そうとして，自分たちの胸をたたみ込んでいる。ああ，自分たちの衣を（幾重に）着こんでも，かれはかれらの隠すこと顕わすことを知っておられる。本当にかれは，胸の中の秘密をよく知っておられる。
No doubt! They did fold up their breasts, that they may hide from Him. Surely, even when they cover themselves with their garments, He knows what they conceal and what they reveal. Verily, He is the All-Knower of the (innermost secrets) of the breasts.
6. 地上の凡ての生きもので，その御恵みをアッラーからいただいていない者はない。かれはそれらの居住所と寄留所を知っておられる。凡てはっきりと書物に（記されて）ある。
And no (moving) living creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah. And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit (in the uterous, grave, etc.). all is in a Clear Book (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz - the Book of Decrees with Allah).
7. かれこそは玉座が水の上にあった時，6日の間に天と地を創造された御方。それはかれが，あなたがたの中誰が，行いに最も優れているか，明瞭にされるためである。だがあなたがもし，「あなたがたは，死後必ず甦されるであろう。」と言えば，不信心者たちはきっと，「それは明らかに魔術に過ぎない。」と言うであろう。
And He it is Who has created the heavens and the earth in six Days and His Throne was on the water, that He might try you, which of you is the best in deeds. But if you were to say to them: "You shall indeed be raised up after death," those who disbelieve would be sure to say, "This is nothing but obvious magic."
8. もしわれが定めの時期まで，かれらに対する懲罰を延ばせば，かれらはきっと言うであろう。「何が（懲罰を）遅らせているのか。」ああ，それが到来する日，何ものも，それを避けられず，かれらは自分たちが嘲笑していたもので，取り囲まれるであろう。
And if We delay the torment for them till a determined term, they are sure to say, "What keeps it back?" Verily, on the day it reaches them, nothing will turn it away from them, and they will be surrounded by (fall in) that at which they used to mock!
9. もしわれが，人間に親しく慈悲を施して味わしめ，その後それをかれらから取り上げれば，きっと絶望して不信心になる。
And if We give man a taste of Mercy from Us, and then withdraw it from him, verily! He is despairing, ungrateful.
10. だが災いに見舞われた後われがもし恩恵を味わしめると，かれは，「不幸はわたしから去ってしまった。」と言って必ず狂喜して自慢する。
But if We let him taste good (favour) after evil (poverty and harm) has touched him, he is sure to say: "Ills have departed from me." Surely, he is exultant, and boastful (ungrateful to Allah).
11. 耐え忍んで，善行をなす者だけはそうではない。これらの者には，（罪の）赦しと偉大な報奨がある。
Except those who show patience and do righteous good deeds, those: theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward (Paradise).
12. あなたは恐らく，啓示されたものの一部を放棄したい（気持になる）であろう。そのためにあなたの胸は狭められてはいないか。それはかれらがこう言うためである。「どうしてかれに財宝が下されないのだろう。また何故1人の天使も，かれと一緒に来なかったのであろうか。」本当にあなたは1人の警告者に過ぎない。アッラーは凡てのことを管理される方であられる。
So perchance you (Muhammad SAW) may give up a part of what is revealed unto you, and that your breast feels straitened for it because they say, "Why has not a treasure been sent down unto him, or an angel has come with him?" But you are only a warner. And Allah is a Wakil (Disposer of affairs, Trustee, Guardian, etc.) over all things.
13. またかれらは，「かれがそれ（クルアーン）を作ったのです。」と言う。言ってやるがいい。「もしあなたがたの言葉が真実ならば，それに類する10章を作って，持って来なさい。また出来るならあなたがた（を助けることの出来る）アッラー以外の者を呼びなさい。」
Or they say, "He (Prophet Muhammad SAW) forged it (the Quran)." Say: "Bring you then ten forged Surah (chapters) like unto it, and call whomsoever you can, other than Allah (to your help), if you speak the truth!"
14. もしかれら（神々）があなたがた（の呼びかけ）に答えないならば，あなたがたはそれがアッラーの御知識からだけ下されたものであること，またかれの外に神はないことを知りなさい。それであなたがたは，心から服従，帰依するのか。
If then they answer you not, know then that the Revelation (this Quran) is sent down with the Knowledge of Allah and that La ilaha illa Huwa: (none has the right to be worshipped but He)! Will you then be Muslims (those who submit to Islam)?
15. 現世の生活とその栄華を望む者には，われは現世のかれらの行いに対し十分に報いるであろう。かれらは少しも減らされることはないのである。
Whosoever desires the life of the world and its glitter; to them We shall pay in full (the wages of) their deeds therein, and they will have no diminution therein.
16. これらの者は，来世の火獄の外に何もない者たちである。現世でかれらの成し遂げたことは実を結ばず，その行っていたことは，虚しいものになる。
They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but Fire; and vain are the deeds they did therein. And of no effect is that which they used to do.
17. 主からの明白な印を受けた証人（預言者）に読み聞かされた者（信者たち）。そしてそれ以前に導師であり慈悲であるムーサーの啓典（律法）をいただいている人々。これら（啓示の下った民）こそはそれ（クルアーン）を信じる。だがそれを信じない一派の者たちは，火獄がかれらの約束された場所である。だからあなた（ムハンマド）は，それに就いて疑ってはならない。本当にそれはあなたの主からの真理である。だが人びとの多くは信じない。
Can they (Muslims) who rely on a clear proof (the Quran) from their Lord, and whom a witness [Prophet Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel ÓáÇã)] from Him follows it (can they be equal with the disbelievers); and before it, came the Book of Musa (Moses), a guidance and a mercy, they believe therein, but those of the sects (Jews, Christians and all the other non-Muslim nations) that reject it (the Quran), the Fire will be their promised meeting-place. So be not in doubt about it (i.e. those who denied Prophet Muhammad SAW and also denied all that which he brought from Allah, surely, they will enter Hell). Verily, it is the truth from your Lord, but most of the mankind believe not.
18. アッラーに就いて虚偽を作る者より，甚だしい不義な者があろうか。かれらは主の御許に引き出され，その証人たちは，「これらの者は，主に関して偽った者です」と言うであろう。見なさい。アッラーの怒りが不義者に下る。
And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah. Such wi,l be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord!" No doubt! the curse of Allah is on the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, oppressors, etc.).
19. これらの者は，アッラーの道（イスラームの教え）から（人々を）妨げ，（その道自体を）曲げようとする者，また来世を否定する者である。
Those who hinder (others) from the Path of Allah (Islamic Monotheism), and seek a crookedness therein, while they are disbelievers in the Hereafter.
20. これらの者は，地上において罰を逃れることもできず，またアッラーの外に守護者もないのである。かれらに対する懲罰は倍加されるであろう。かれらは聞くことも出来ず，また（明確に）見ることも出来なかった。
By no means will they escape (from Allah's Torment) on earth, nor have they protectors besides Allah! Their torment will be doubled! They could not bear to hear (the preachers of the truth) and they used not to see (the truth because of their severe aversin, inspite of the fact that they had the sense of hearing and sight).
21. これらの者は，自分自身を滅ぼした者で，かれらが捏造していたものは，かれらからはぐれ去った。
They are those who have lost their ownselves, and their invented false deities will vanish from them.
22. 疑うことなくこれらの者は，来世の最大の失敗者である。
Certainly, they are those who will be the greatest losers in the Hereafter.
23. 本当に信仰して善行に励み，また主の御前で謙虚な者，これらの者は楽園の住人で，永遠にそこに住むであろう。
Verily, those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and humble themselves (in repentance and obedience) before their Lord, - they will be dwellers of Paradise to dwell therein forever.
24. この両者を例えれば，一人は盲人で耳の遠い者のようであり，外は目も見えれば耳も聞える者である。比べてみて両者は同じであろうか。それでもあなたがたは注意しないのか。
The likeness of the two parties is as the blind and the deaf and the seer and the hearer. Are they equal when compared? Will you not then take heed?
25. またわれはヌーフを，かれの民に遣わした。（かれは言った。）「わたしはあなたがたへの，公明な警告者である。
And indeed We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (and he said): "I have come to you as a plain warner."
26. あなたがたはアッラーの外に仕えてはならない。わたしはあなたがたのために，苦難の日の懲罰を本当に恐れる。」
"That you worship none but Allah, surely, I fear for you the torment of a painful Day."
27. だがかれの民の中不信心な首長たちは言った。「あなたを見ると，わたしたちと同じ人間に過ぎません。またわたしたちのなかでもあなた従う者は，思慮の未熟な最も卑しい者に過ぎません。またあなたには，わたしたちに勝る長所も認められません。いや，わたしたちは，実際あなたがたを嘘付きであると考えます。」
The chiefs of the disbelievers among his people said: "We see you but a man like ourselves, nor do we see any follow you but the meanest among us and they (too) followed you without thinking. And we do not see in you any merit above us, in fact we think you are liars."
28. かれは言った。「わたしの人びとよ，あなたがたは考えてみなさい。もしわたしが主からの明証の上に立ち，かれが御許からわたしに慈悲を与えられても，それがあなたがたの目に不明瞭だというならば，それほど嫌っているのに，あなたがたにそれを強いることが出来ようか。
He said: "O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear proof from my Lord, and a Mercy (Prophethood, etc.) has come to me from Him, but that (Mercy) has been obscured from your sight. Shall we compel you to accept it (Islamic Monotheism) when you have a strong hatred for it?
29. 人びとよ，わたしはこれ（伝道）に対して，あなたがたに財貨を求めない。わたしは，只アッラーから報奨をいただくだけである。またわたしは，信仰者たちを（侮って）追い返そうとはしない。本当にかれらは主に会う身である。寧ろあなたがたは，無知の民であるとわたしは考える。
"And O my people! I ask of you no wealth for it, my reward is from none but Allah. I am not going to drive away those who have believed. Surely, they are going to meet their Lord, but I see that you are a people that are ignorant.
30. 人びとよ，わたしがもしかれらを追い返したならば，アッラーに対し誰がわたしを助けるであろう。それでもあなたがたは注意しないのか。
"And O my people! Who will help me against Allah, if I drove them away? Will you not then give a thought?
31. わたしはあなたがたに向かって，わたしがアッラーの宝物をもっているとも，幽玄界を知っているとも，またわたしは天使であるとも言わない。なおまたわたしはあなたがたが軽視する者に向かって，アッラーはかれらに（どんな）善性も，御授けにならないだろうと言わない。アッラーは，かれらの心の中を，最もよく知っておられる。もしそうであったならば，わたしは不義の徒である。」
"And I do not say to you that with me are the Treasures of Allah, "Nor that I know the Ghaib (unseen); "nor do I say I am an angel, and I do not say of those whom your eyes look down upon that Allah will not bestow any good on them. Allah knows what is in their inner-selves (as regards belief, etc.). In that case, I should, indeed be one of the Zalimun (wrong-doers, oppressors, etc.)."
32. かれらは言った。「ヌーフよ，あなたはわたしたちと論議してわたしたちとの論争を長引かせました。もしあなたの言葉が真実ならば，あなたが約束したこと（懲罰）をわたしたちに齎しなさい。」
They said: "O Nuh (Noah)! You have disputed with us and much have you prolonged the dispute with us, now bring upon us what you threaten us with, if you are of the truthful."
33. かれは言った。「アッラーの御心があれば，かれだけがあなたがたにそれを現出されるであろう。あなたがたは（それを）避けられないのである。
He said: "Only Allah will bring it (the punishment) on you, if He will, and then you will escape not.
34. 仮令わたしが（善い）忠告を，あなたがたに与えようと望んでも，もしアッラーがあなたがたを，迷うに任せる御望みならば，わたしの助言はあなたがたに無益であろう。かれこそあなたがたの主であられる。あなたがたはかれの御許に帰されるのである。」
"And my advice will not profit you, even if I wish to give you good counsel, if Allah's Will is to keep you astray. He is your Lord! and to Him you shall return."
35. また，かれら（マッカの不信心者たち）はかれがそれ（クルアーン）を作り出した」と言っている。言ってやるがいい。「もしわたしがそれを作り出したならば，罪はわたしにある。だがわたしは，あなたがたが犯した罪にはかかわリがない。」
Or they (the pagans of Makkah) say: "He (Muhammad SAW) has fabricated it (the Quran)." Say: "If I have fabricated it, upon me be my crimes, but I am innocent of (all) those crimes which you commit."
36. ヌーフはこのように啓示された。「既に信仰した者の外は，もうあなたの民は信仰しないであろう。だからかれらの行いに就いて悩んではならない。
And it was inspired to Nuh (Noah): "None of your people will believe except those who have believed already. So be not sad because of what they used to do.
37. そしてわれの目の前で，啓示に従って方舟を造れ。また不義を行う者のために（この上）われに願い出てはならない。かれらは溺れ死ぬであろう。」
"And construct the ship under Our Eyes and with Our Inspiration, and address Me not on behalf of those who did wrong; they are surely to be drowned."
38. そこでかれは方舟を造り始めた。かれの民の首長たちは，その側を過ぎる度にかれを嘲笑した。かれは言った。「仮令あなたがたが（今）わたしたちを嘲笑しても，いずれあなたがたが嘲笑するように，きっとわたしたちがあなたがたを嘲笑するようになる。」
And as he was constructing the ship, whenever the chiefs of his people passed by him, they made a mockery of him. He said: "If you mock at us, so do we mock at you likewise for your mocking.
39. 「あなたがたはやがて恥辱の懲罰が誰に来るか知るであろう。永久の懲罰が誰の上に降りかかるかを。」
"And you will know who it is on whom will come a torment that will cover him with disgrace and on whom will fall a lasting torment."
40. 遂にわが命令は下って，大地の諸水が堰を切って迸り出た時，われは言った。「すべての生き物の一つがいと，信仰者たちと，あなたの家族で宣告がすでに下された者以外をその中に乗せなさい。」だがかれと共に信仰した者は少なかった。
(So it was) till then there came Our Command and the oven gushed forth (water like fountains from the earth). We said: "Embark therein, of each kind two (male and female), and your family, except him against whom the Word has already gone forth, and those who believe. And none believed with him, except a few."
41. かれ（ヌーフ）は言った。「アッラーの御名によって，これに乗れ。航行にも停泊にもそれによれ。本当にわたしの主は，寛容にして慈悲深くあられる。」
And he [Nuh (Noah) ] said: "Embark therein, in the Name of Allah will be its moving course and its resting anchorage. Surely, my Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 12, Page 43)
42. 方舟はかれらを乗せて山のような波の上に動き出した。その時ヌーフは（皆から）離れていたかれの息子に叫んで言った。「息子よ，わたしと一緒に乗れ。不信者たちと一緒にいてはならない。」
So it (the ship) sailed with them amidst the waves like mountains, and Nuh (Noah) called out to his son, who had separated himself (apart), "O my son! Embark with us and be not with the disbelievers."
43. 息子は（答えて）言った。「わたしは山に避難しよう。それは（洪）水から救うであろう。」かれ（ヌ－フ）は言った。「今日はアッラーの御命令によってかれの慈悲に浴する者の外は，何者も救われない。」その時2人の間に波が来て，息子は溺れる者の1人となった。
The son replied: "I will betake myself to a mountain, it will save me from the water." Nuh (Noah) said: "This day there is no saviourfrom the Decree of Allah except him on whom He has mercy." And a wave came in between them, so he (the son) was among the drowned.
44. 御言葉があった。「大地よ，水を飲み込め。天よ，（雨を）降らすことを止めなさい。」水は引いて，事態は治まり，（舟は）ジューディー山上に乗り上げた。また仰せられた。「不義を行う民を追い払え。」
And it was said: "O earth! Swallow up your water, and O sky! Withhold (your rain)." And the water was diminished (made to subside) and the Decree (of Allah) was fulfilled (i.e. the destruction of the people of Nuh (Noah). And it (the ship) rested on Mount Judi, and it was said: "Away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doing)!"
45. ヌーフはかれの主を呼んで申し上げた。「主よ，わたしの息子は（わが）家の一員です。あなたの約束は本当に真実で，あなたは裁決に最も優れた御方であられます。」
And Nuh (Noah) called upon his Lord and said, "O my Lord! Verily, my son is of my family! And certainly, Your Promise is true, and You are the Most Just of the judges."
46. かれは仰せられた。「ヌーフよ，かれは本当にあなたの家族ではない。かれの行いは正しくない。あなたの知らないことに就いて，われに求めてはならない。われはあなたが無知な者とならないよう戒める。」
He said: "O Nuh (Noah)! Surely, he is not of your family; verily, his work is unrighteous, so ask not of Me that of which you have no knowledge! I admonish you, lest you be one of the ignorants."
47. かれは申し上げた。「主よ，本当にわたしが知りもしないことに就いて，あなたに請い求めないよう，御赦しを願います。あなたがわたしを御赦しになり，慈悲を与えられなければ，わたしはきっと，失敗者の仲間になるでしょう。」
Nuh (Noah) said: "O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have Mercy on me, I would indeed be one of the losers."
48. （かれに）御言葉があった。「ヌーフよ，われからの平安によって，（舟を）降りなさい。あなたに祝福あれ，またあなたと共にいる多くの人々の上にも。（外に）われが（少しの間の生活を）享受させる人々もあるが，結局かれらはわれから痛ましい懲罰を受けるであろう。
It was said: "O Nuh (Noah)! Come down (from the ship) with peace from Us and blessings on you and on the people who are with you (and on some of their off spring), but (there will be other) people to whom We shall grant their pleasures (for a time), but in the end a painful torment will reach them from Us."
49. これはわれがあなたに啓示した，幽玄界に就いての消息である。あなたもあなたの人々も以前はそれを知らなかった。だから耐え忍ベ。（善）果は，主を畏れる者に帰するのである。
This is of the news of the unseen which We reveal unto you (O Muhammad SAW), neither you nor your people knew them before this. So be patient. Surely, the (good) end is for the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2)
50. （われは）アードの民に，その同胞のフードを（遣わした）。かれは言った。「わたしの人びとよ，アッラーに仕えなさい。あなたがたには，かれの外に神はないのである。あなたがたは（神々を）捏造しているに過ぎない。
And to 'Ad (people We sent) their brother Hud. He said, "O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other Ilah (God) but Him. Certainly, you do nothing but invent (lies)!
51. 人びとよ，わたしはこれ（消息）に対して，何の報酬もあなたがたに求めない。わたしの報酬は，わたしを創られたかれの御許にだけあるのである。あなたがたはそれでも悟らないのか。
"O my people I ask of you no reward for it (the Message). My reward is only from Him, Who created me. Will you not then understand?
52. わたしの人びとよ，あなたがたの主の御赦しを請い求め，悔悟してかれに返れ。かれはあなたがたの上に天（から雲）を送り，豊かに雨を降らせ，あなたがたの力に更に力を添えられる。だからあなたがたは背き去って，罪を犯してはならない。」
"And O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him, He will send you (from the sky) abundant rain, and add strength to your strength, so do not turn away as Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah)."
53. かれらは言った。「フードよ，あなたはわたしたちにたった一つの明証すら，齎さない。わたしたちは（単なる）あなたの言葉のために，わたしたちの神々を捨てない。またあなたの信者にもならない。
They said: "O Hud! No evidence have you brought us, and we shall not leave our gods for your (mere) saying! And we are not believers in you.
54. わたしたちの神々のあるものが，邪悪な言動であなたを魅惑したのだと言うだけである。」かれは（答えて）言った。「わたしは，立証をアッラーに御願いする。あなたがたも，わたしが（神々を）配することに，関りないことを証言して下さい。
"All that we say is that some of our gods (false deities) have seized you with evil (madness)." He said: "I call Allah to witness and bear you witness that I am free from that which you ascribe as partners in worship,
55. かれ以外（の神々を仲間とし）て，皆でわたしに対し策謀しなさい。何も猶予はいらない。
With Him (Allah). So plot against me, all of you, and give me no respite.
56. わたしの主であり，あなたがたの主であられるアッラーを，わたしは信頼する。凡ての生きものの一つでも，アッラーが，その前髪を摑まれないものはない。本当にわたしの主は，正しい道の上におられる。
"I put my trust in Allah, my Lord and your Lord! There is not a moving (living) creature but He has grasp of its forelock. Verily, my Lord is on the Straight Path (the truth).
57. 仮令あなたがたが背き去っても，わたしはあなたがたのために，与えられたものを既に伝えた。主はあなたがたの代りに，他の民を継がせられた。あなたがたは少しも，かれを害することが出来ないのである。本当にわたしの主は，凡てを見守られる。」
"So if you turn away, still I have conveyed the Message with which I was sent to you. My Lord will make another people succeed you, and you will not harm Him in the least. Surely, my Lord is Guardian over all things."
58. わが命令が下った時，われの慈悲によってフードとかれと共に信仰する者たちは救われた。われは酷い懲罰から，かれらを救ったのである。
And when Our Commandment came, We saved Hud and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us, and We saved them from a severe torment.
59. これは，アード（の民のこと）であった。かれらは主の印を拒否し，かれの使徒たちに背き，それぞれの勢力者，頑迷な反逆者の命令に従った。
Such were 'Ad (people). They rejected the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord and disobeyed His Messengers, and followed the command of every proud obstinate (oppressor of the truth, from their leaders).
60. それでかれらは，現世でも復活の日でも，呪いに付き纏われた。ああ見よ，本当にアードは，かれらの主を信仰しなかった。ああ見よ，フードの民（の視界から）アードは消された。
And they were pursued by a curse in this world and (so they will be) on the Day of Resurrection. No doubt! Verily, 'Ad disbelieved in their Lord. So away with 'Ad, the people of Hud.
61. （われは）サムードの民に，その同胞サーリフを（遣わした）。かれは言った。「わたしの人びとよ，アッラーに仕えなさい。かれの外に，あなたがたに神はないのである。かれは大地からあなたがたを造化され，そこに住まわせられた。それでかれの赦しを請い願い，悔悟してかれに返れ。本当にわたしの主は，直ぐ近くにおられ，（祈りに）応えられる御方である。
And to Thamud (people, We sent) their brother Salih (Saleh). He said: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (God) but Him. He brought you forth from the earth and settled you therein, then ask forgiveness of Him and turn to Him in repentance. Certainly, my Lord is Near (to all by His Knowledge), Responsive."
62. かれらは言った。「サーリフよ，あなたはわたしたちの中で，以前望みをかけた人物であった。（今）あなたは，わたしたちの祖先が仕えたものに仕えることを禁じるのか。だがあなたが勧める教えに就いて，わたしたちは真に疑いをもっている。」
They said: "O Salih (Saleh)! You have been among us as a figure of good hope (and we wished for you to be our chief), till this [new thing which you have brought; that we leave our gods and worship your God (Allah) Alone]! Do you (now) forbid us the worship of what our fathers have worshipped? But we are really in grave doubt as to that which you invite us to (monotheism)."
63. かれは言った。「わたしの人びとよ，考えてみたのか，わたしが主からの証の上にたち，かれはわたしに，親しく慈悲を与えられるのに，もしわたしがかれに従わないならば，誰がアッラー（の怒り）からわたしを救助することが出来ようか。あなたがたはわたしをもっと破滅してしまうだけである。」
He said: "O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear proof from my Lord, and there has come to me a Mercy (Prophethood, etc.) from Him, who then can help me against Allah, if I were to disobey Him? Then you increase me not but in loss.
64. わたしの人びとよ，これはアッラーの雌ラクダで，あなたがたに対する一つの印である。アッラーの大地で放牧し，これに害を加えてはならない。身近かな懲罰に襲われないようにしなさい。
"And O my people! This she-camel of Allah is a sign to you, leave her to feed on Allah's earth, and touch her not with evil, lest a near torment will seize you."
65. だがかれらは，その膝の腱を切った。それでかれ（サーリフ）は言った。「3日の間あなたがたの家で（生を）楽しめ。それは偽りのない約束である。」
But they killed her. So he said: "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. This is a promise (i.e. a threat) that will not be belied."
66. わが命令が下った時，慈悲によってわれはサーリフならびにかれと共に信仰した者たちを救い，またその日の恥辱からも救った。本当にあなたの主は，強大にして偉力ならびなき御方である。
So when Our Commandment came, We saved Salih (Saleh) and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us, and from the disgrace of that Day. Verily, your Lord, He is the All-Strong, the All-Mighty.
67. 一声（懲罰）が，不義の者を襲った。かれらは翌朝その家の中で俯していた。
And As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook the wrong-doers, so they lay (dead), prostrate in their homes,
68. そこはまるで，誰一人住んでいなかったかのようであった。サムードの人びとは，主を信じなかった。サムードよ（アッラーの慈悲から）追放されよ。
As if they had never lived there. No doubt! Verily, Thamud disbelieved in their Lord. So away with Thamud!
69. わが使徒たちが，イブラーヒームの許に来て，吉報を齎した。かれらは，「平安あれ。」と言い，かれも，「平安あれ。」と答え，時を移さず，焼いた仔牛で持て成した。
And verily, there came Our Messengers to Ibrahim (Abraham) with glad tidings.They said: Salam (greetings or peace!) He answered, Salam (greetings or peace!) and he hastened to entertain them with a roasted calf.
70. だがかれらの手がそれに伸びないのを見て，かれは不安に感じ，かれらに恐れを抱いた。かれらは言った。「恐れてはならない，実はわたしたちは，ルートの民に遣わされた者である。」
But when he saw their hands went not towards it (the meal), he felt some mistrust of them, and conceived a fear of them. They said: "Fear not, we have been sent against the people of Lout (Lot)."
71. その時，かれ（イブラーヒーム）の妻が立っていて，笑ったので，われはかの女にイスハークのこと，イスハークの後，ヤアコーブの（産れる）吉報を伝えた。
And his wife was standing (there), and she laughed (either, because the Messengers did not eat their food or for being glad for the destruction of the people of Lout (Lot). But We gave her glad tidings of Ishaque (Isaac), and after him, of Ya'qub (Jacob).
72. かの女は言った。「ああ，情ない，わたしは老婦人であり，この夫も老人なのに（子が）産めましょうか。本当にこれは不思議なことです。」
She said (in astonishment): "Woe unto me! Shall I bear a child while I am an old woman, and here is my husband, an old man? Verily! This is a strange thing!"
73. かれらは言った。「おお，この家の人びとよ，あなたがたは，アッラーの命令に驚くのか。アッラーの慈悲と祝福があなたがたの上にあるように。本当にかれは讃美すべき方，栄光に満ちた方であられる。」
They said: "Do you wonder at the Decree of Allah? The Mercy of Allah and His Blessings be on you, O the family [of Ibrahim (Abraham)]. Surely, He (Allah) is All-Praiseworthy, All-Glorious."
74. それでイブラーヒームの恐れが消え，吉報がかれに伝えられた時，かれはルートの民のためにわれに歎願し始めた。
Then when the fear had gone away from (the mind of) Ibrahim (Abraham), and the glad tidings had reached him, he began to plead with Us (Our Messengers) for the people of Lout (Lot).
75. 本当にイブラーヒームは，辛抱強く，心の優しい，悔悟して（主に）返った者である。
Verily, Ibrahim (Abraham) was, without doubt, forbearing, used to invoke Allah with humility, and was repentant (to Allah all the time, again and again).
76. （主は仰せられた。）イブラーヒームよ，このことを断念しなさい。既に主の御命令は下っている。避けられない懲罰が，かれらに下るのである。
"O Ibrahim (Abraham)! Forsake this. Indeed, the Commandment of your Lord has gone forth. Verily, there will come a torment for them which cannot be turned back."
77. われの使徒たちがルートの許に来た時，かれは（ルー卜の客人としての）使徒のためにとても心を悩まし，かれ自身（人びとの男色の風習から）かれらを守れないことを悲しんで，「これは苦難の日である。」と言った。
And when Our Messengers came to Lout (Lot), he was grieved on their account and felt himself straitened for them (lest the town people should approach them to commit sodomy with them). He said: "This is a distressful day."
78. 人びと（ルートの民）は急いでかれの許に来た。これまでかれらは，汚らわしい行い（男色行為）をしていたので，かれは言った。「わたしの人びとよ，ここにわたしの娘たちがいる。あなたがたにとっては（娘たちと結婚することが）最も清浄である。アッラーを畏れなさい。わたしの賓客に関して，わたしに恥をかかせないでくれ。あなたがたの中に，正しい心の者が一人もいないのか。」
And his people came rushing towards him, and since aforetime they used to commit crimes (sodomy, etc.), he said: "O my people! Here are my daughters (i.e. the daughters of my nation), they are purer for you (if you marry them lawfully). So fear Allah and degrade me not as regards my guests! Is there not among you a single right-minded man?"
79. かれらは言った。「わたしたちがあなたの娘たちに，求める気のないことを，あなたはよく知っているはずである。またわたしたちが望むものもあなたに分っている。」
They said: "Surely you know that we have neither any desire nor in need of your daughters, and indeed you know well what we want!"
80. かれは（祈って）言った。「わたしに，あなたがたを押える力がありますよう。もしくは力強い支持にあずかることが出来ますように。」
He said: "Would that I had strength (men) to overpower you, or that I could betake myself to some powerful support (to resist you)."
81. かれら（使徒たち）は言った。「ルートよ本当にわたしたちは，あなたの主の使徒である。かれらは決してあなたに手を触れることは出来ない。それで夜の間にあなたの家族を連れて出て行きなさい。そしてあなたがたの中，一人でも後ろを振り向いてはならない。あなたの妻は別である。かの女は，かれら（ソドムの住民）の遭遇したことに遭遇するであろう。かれらに定められた時は，早朝である。朝は近いではないか。」
They (Messengers) said: "O Lout (Lot)! Verily, we are the Messengers from your Lord! They shall not reach you!So travel with your family in a part of the night, and let not any of you look back, but your wife (will remain behind), verily, the punishment which will afflict them, will afflict her. Indeed, morning is their appointed time. Is not the morning near?"
82. それでわが命令が下った時，われはそれ（町）を転覆し，その上にわれは幾重にも焼いた泥の石を雨と降らせた。
So when Our Commandment came, We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down, and rained on them stones of baked clay, piled up;
83. （その石には）アッラーの御許で，（懲罰の）記号が付けられていた。それらは，不義を行う者の上にも降りかかるのである。
Marked from your Lord, and they are not ever far from the Zalimun (polytheists, evil-doers, etc.).
84. （われは）またマドヤンの民にその同胞のシュアイブを（遣わした）。かれは言った。「わたしの人びとよ，アッラーに仕えなさい。あなたがたには，かれの外に神はないのである。また寸法や量目を少なくしてはならない。見たところあなたがたは繁栄しているが，わたしはあなたがたに，（一切を）取り巻く日の懲罰が下るのを恐れる。」
And to the Madyan (Midian) people (We sent) their brother Shu'aib. He said: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (God) but Him, and give not short measure or weight, I see you in prosperity; and verily I fear for you the torment of a Day encompassing.
85. 「人びとよ，寸法や量目を正確に計れ，人の物を欺き取ってはならない。また地上で悪事を行って退廃を齎してはならない。
"And O my people! Give full measure and weight in justice and reduce not the things that are due to the people, and do not commit mischief in the land, causing corruption.
86. もしあなたがたが信者ならば，アッラーの（賜物で手もとに）残されたものこそ，あなたがたのために最も善いものである。わたしはあなたがたの見張り人ではない。」
"That which is left by Allah for you (after giving the rights of the people) is better for you, if you are believers. And I am not set over you as a guardian.
87. かれらは言った。「シュアイブよ，あなたの祈るところのものは，わたしたちの祖先が崇拝したものを捨てるようにあなたに命じたのか。また自分の財産に関し，望み通りに処理してはならないのか。本当にあなたは，親切に正しい道に導く者なのか。」
They said: "O Shu'aib! Does your Salat (prayer) (i.e. the prayers which you offer has spoiled your mind, so you) command that we leave off what our fathers used to worship, or that we leave off doing what we like with our property? Verily, you are the forbearer, right-minded!" (They said this sarcastically).
88. かれは（答えて）言った。「人びとよ，考えてみなさい。わたしが主からの証の上にたち，またかれから良い御恵みを与えられている（のに，主の啓示を伝えることをわたしが怠ろうか）。またあなたがたに禁じたことを，陰で行うことを望まない。わたしの請い願うところは，只力を尽くして（世の中を）矯正することであり，アッラーによる以外にはわたしの成功〔タウフィーク〕はないのである。わたしはかれに信頼し，かれに悔悟して返る。
He said: "O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear evidence from my Lord, and He has given me a good sustenance from Himself (shall I corrupt it by mixing it with the unlawfully earned money). I wish not, in contradiction to you, to do that which I forbid you. I only desire reform so far as I am able, to the best of my power. And my guidance cannot come except from Allah, in Him I trust and unto Him I repent.
89. 人びとよ，わたしに異議を唱えて罪を犯しヌーフの民やフードの民，またサーリフの民が陥ったのと同じ（運命）に陥ってはならない。ルートの民にいたっては，あなたがたと余り縁遠くはない。
"And O my people! Let not my Shiqaqcause you to suffer the fate similar to that of the people of Nuh (Noah) or of Hud or of Salih (Saleh), and the people of Lout (Lot) are not far off from you!
90. それであなたがたの主の御赦しを請い，悔悟してかれに返れ。本当にわたしの主は慈悲深く温情にあつい御方である。」
"And ask forgiveness of your Lord and turn unto Him in repentance. Verily, my Lord is Most Merciful, Most Loving."
91. かれらは言った。「シュアイブよ，あなたの言うことをまるで理解出来ない。またわたしたちは，本当にあなたは頼りにならないと思う。あなたの同族（のこと）を考えなかったならば，わたしたちはきっとあなたを石打ちにしたであろう。あなたはわたしたちの間では無力なのである。」
They said: "O Shu'aib! We do not understand much of what you say, and we see you a weak (man, it is said that he was a blind man) among us. Were it not for your family, we should certainly have stoned you and you are not powerful against us."
92. かれ（シュアイブ）は言った。「人びとよ，あなたがたはアッラーよりも，わたしの同族の方を重視するのか。かれを無視して，あなたがたの背後に捨てるのか。本当にわたしの主は，あなたがたの行うことを取り囲まれる。
He said: "O my people! Is then my family of more weight with you than Allah? And you have cast Him away behind your backs. Verily, my Lord is surrounding all that you do.
93. 人びとよ，あなたがたは自分のやり方で行うがよい。わたしもまた（わたしの務めを）行うであろう。やがてあなたがたは知ろう。誰に恥ずべき懲罰が下るのか，また誰が偽ったのかを。あなたがたは待て，わたしもまたあなたがたと共に待つものである。」
"And O my people! Act according to your ability and way, and I am acting (on my way). You will come to know who it is on whom descends the torment that will cover him with ignominy, and who is a liar! And watch you! Verily, I too am watching with you."
94. わが命令が下った時，われの慈悲によってシュアイブとかれと共に信仰した者たちは救われた。だが不義を行った者たちには一声（懲罰）が襲い，翌朝かれらはその家の中に，俯していた，
And when Our Commandment came, We saved Shu'aib and those who believed with him by a Mercy from Us. And As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) seized the wrong-doers, and they lay (dead) prostrate in their homes.
95. かれらは，まるでそこに住んでいなかったかのようであった。丁度サムードが滅びたようにマドヤンは滅びた。
As if they had never lived there! So away with Madyan (Midian)! As away with Thamud! (All these nations were destroyed).
96. またわれは，印と明瞭な権威とを授けて，ムーサ一を遣わした。
And indeed We sent Musa (Moses) with Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and a manifest authority;
97. フィルアウンとその首長たちに。だが，かれらはフィルアウンの命令に従った。しかしフィルアウンの命令は，正しい道に導くものではなかった。
To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they followed the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) was no right guide.
98. 復活の日にかれ（フィルアウン）は，人びとを率いて火獄に導き下るであろう。何と恐しい水場であることよ。
He will go ahead of his people on the Day of Resurrection, and will lead them into the Fire, and evil indeed is the place to which they are led.
99. かれらは現世においても復活の日にも呪いに付き纏われた。何と恐しい賜物であることよ。
They were pursued by a curse in this (deceiving life of this world) and (so they will be pursued by a curse) on the Day of Resurrection. How bad is the curse (in this world) pursued by another curse (in the Hereafter).
100. これらはわれがあなた（ムハンマド）に語る，昔の村々の消息の一部である。そのあるものはなお存在するが，あるものは消滅した。
These are some of the news of the (population of) towns which We relate unto you (O Muhammad SAW); of them, some are standing, and some have been (already) reaped.
101. われがかれらを損ったのではない。かれらが自分自身を損ったのである。アッラー以外にかれらが祈っていた神々は，あなたの主の命令が下った時，かれらに何も役立つことはなかった。只破滅を助長するだけであった。
We wronged them not, but they wronged themselves. So their aliha (gods), other than Allah, whom they invoked, profited them naught when there came the Command of your Lord, nor did they add aught (to their lot) but destruction.
102. このようにかれらが悪を行っている時，村々を不意に襲うことが，あなたの主の捕え方である。かれの捕え方は，本当に痛烈であり苛酷である。
Such is the Seizure of your Lord when He seizes the (population of) towns while they are doing wrong. Verily, His Seizure is painful, and severe.
103. 本当にこの中には来世の懲罰を恐れる者への印がある。それは人間が一斉に召集される日であり，立証されるべき日である。
Indeed in that (there) is a sure lesson for those who fear the torment of the Hereafter. That is a Day whereon mankind will be gathered together, and that is a Day when all (the dwellers of the heavens and the earth) will be present.
104. それは定められた一期のために過ぎず，われはそれを遅延させない。
And We delay it only for a term (already) fixed.
105. その日が来れば，誰もかれの許しがなければ発言することは出来ない。かれらの中の（ある者は）惨であり，また（ある者は）幸福である。
On the Day when it comes, no person shall speak except by His (Allah's) Leave. Some among them will be wretched and (others) blessed.
106. その時惨な者たちは，火獄の中にいよう。その中でかれらは，ため息とすすり泣き（に喘ぐだけである）。
As for those who are wretched, they will be in the Fire, sighing in a high and low tone.
107. あなたの主の御好みにならない以上，天と地の続くかぎり，その中に永遠に住むであろう。本当にあなたの主は，御望みのことを（必ず）成し遂げられる。
They will dwell therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord wills. Verily, your Lord is the doer of what He wills.
108. （その日）幸福な者たちは楽園に入り，あなたの主の御好みによる以外，天と地の続く限り，その中に永遠に住むであろう。限りない賜物である。
And those who are blessed, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein for all the time that the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord will, a gift without an end.
109. だからこれらの人びとが崇拝するものに就いて，あなたは思い煩うことはない。かれらは祖先が以前に仕えたものに仕えるに過ぎない。本当にわれは，かれらの得分を（少しも）減らすことなく支給する。
So be not in doubt (O Muhammad SAW) as to what these (pagans and polytheists) men worship. They worship nothing but what their fathers worshipped before (them). And verily, We shall repay them in full their portion without diminution.
110. われはムーサーに啓典を授けたが，それに就いて（ユダヤ人の間に）異論があった。あなたの主から前もって，御言葉が下されていなかったならば，その事はかれらの間できっと解決されたであろう。だが末にかれらはそれに就いて不安な疑いを抱いている。
Indeed, We gave the Book to Musa (Moses), but differences arose therein, and had it not been for a Word that had gone forth before from your Lord, the case would have been judged between them, and indeed they are in grave doubt concerning it (this Quran).
111. あなたの主はかれらの凡ての言動に対して，十分に報われる。本当にかれは，かれらの行いを熟知なされる。
And verily, to each of them your Lord will repay their works in full. Surely, He is All-Aware of what they do.
112. それであなたと，またあなたと共に悔悟した者が命じられたように，（正しい道を）堅く守れ。法を越えてはならない。かれはあなたがたの行いを御存知であられる。
So stand (ask Allah to make) you (Muhammad SAW) firm and straight (on the religion of Islamic Monotheism) as you are commanded and those (your companions) who turn in repentance (unto Allah) with you, and transgress not (Allah's legal limits). Verily, He is All-Seer of what you do.
113. あなたがたは悪を行う者を頼りにしてはならない。さもないと業火があなたを捕えるであろう。あなたがたには，アッラーの外に守護者はなく，助けられることもない。
And incline not toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you, and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor you would then be helped.
114. 礼拝は昼間の両端において，また夜の初めの時に，務めを守れ。本当に善行は，悪行を消滅させる。これは（主を）念じる者に対する訓戒である。
And perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night [i.e. the five compulsory Salat (prayers)]. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice).
115. 耐え忍べ。本当にアッラーは，善行者への報奨を虚しくされない。
And be patient; verily, Allah loses not the reward of the good-doers.
116. あなたがたより以前の世代の者の間には，何故かれらの中われが救った少数の者を除いては，地上の退廃を押える有徳な者たちがいなかったのであろうか。不義を行う者たちは，享楽を貪り罪を犯していた。
If only there had been among the generations before you, persons having wisdom, prohibiting (others) from Al-Fasad (disbelief, polytheism, and all kinds of crimes and sins) in the earth, except a few of those whom We saved from among them. Those who did wrong pursued the enjoyment of good things of (this worldly) life, and were Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers in Allah, polytheists, sinners, etc.).
117. あなたがたの主は，そこの居住民が矯正（に留意）する間は，（単なる）悪行のために都市を滅ぼされない。
And your Lord would never destroy the towns wrongfully, while their people were right-doers.
118. またあなたの主の御心ならば，かれは人びとを一つのウンマになされたであろう。だがかれらは反目しあっている。
And if your Lord had so willed, He could surely have made mankind one Ummah [nation or community (following one religion only i.e. Islam)], but they will not cease to disagree,
119. あなたの主が慈悲を垂れられる者は別である。かれはそうなるように，かれらを創られた。そして，「われは必ずジンと人間を一緒にして，地獄を満たす。」との主の御言葉は全うされた。
Except him on whom your Lord has bestowed His Mercy (the follower of truth - Islamic Monotheism) and for that did He create them. And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled (i.e. His Saying): "Surely, I shall fill Hell with jinns and men all together."
120. 凡そわれが，使徒たちの消息に就いてあなたに語ったことは凡て，あなたの心をそれで堅固にするためのものである。その中には真理と勧告，と信仰する者への訓戒がある。
And all that We relate to you (O Muhammad SAW) of the news of the Messengers is in order that We may make strong and firm your heart thereby. And in this (chapter of the Quran) has come to you the truth, as well as an admonition and a reminder for the believers.
121. それで不信仰者に言ってやるがいい。「あなたがたは自分のやり方で行うがいい。わたしたちも（自分の務めを）行う。
And say to those who do not believe: "Act according to your ability and way, We are acting (in our way).
122. あなたがたは待ちなさい。わたしたちも待っている。」
And you wait ! We (too) are waiting."
123. 天と地の幽玄界は，アッラーの有であり，また凡ての事（物の決定）はかれに帰属する。だからかれに仕え，かれを信頼しなさい。主はあなたがたの行うことを，疎かになされない。
And to Allah belongs the Ghaib (unseen) of the heavens and the earth, and to Him return all affairs (for decision). So worship Him (O Muhammad SAW) and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you (people) do."
