慈悲あまねく慈愛深きアッラーの御名において。
Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
1. 時は近づき，月は微塵に裂けた。
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon).
2. かれらは仮令印を見ても，背き去つて，「これは相変らずの魔術だ。」と言うであろう。
And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic."
3. かれらは（訓戒を）虚偽であるとし，自分の欲望に従ってきた。だが一切の事には，定められた結末がある。
They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)].
4. これまで，様々な消息は，既に齎され，それで充分自制出来たはず。
And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil),
5. それはめざましい英知であった。だが警告は役立たなかった。
Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not,
6. だからあなたは，かれらから遠ざかれ。召集者が嫌われるところへ呼び出す日。
So (O Muhammad SAW) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing.
7. かれらは目を伏せて，丁度バッタが散らばるように墓場から出て来て，
They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad,
8. 召集者の方に急ぐ。不信心者たちは言う。「これは大難の日です。」
Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day."
9. かれら以前に，ヌーフの民も（その預言者を）虚偽とし，わがしもべを嘘付き呼ばわりし，「気違いです。」と言って追放した。
The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened.
10. それでかれは主に，「わたしは，本当に力尽きました。どうか御助け下さい。」と祈った。
Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!"
11. それでわれは，天の諸門を開き水を注ぎ降らせた。
So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth.
12. また大地に諸泉を噴出させ，水は合わさり，かねての神命によること（洪水）が起きた。
And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined.
13. しかしわれは板と釘で造ったもの（方舟）にかれを乗せてやった。
And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails,
14. わが見守る中でそれは走った。これが（皆から）退けられたあの者への報いである。
Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected!
15. われはこれを一つの印として残した。さて誰か悟る者はあるか。
And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
16. さあわが懲罰と戒めとはどうであったか。
Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
17. 本当にわれは，クルアーンを易しく説き明した。さあ，誰か悟る者があるか。
And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
18. アード（の民）も（真理を）虚偽であるとした。それでわが懲罰と戒めとはどうであったか。
'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
19. われは災厄の打ち続く日に，かれらに対し荒れ狂う風を送った。
Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity.
20. すると人間は，根こそぎになった。ナツメヤシの切り株のように，むしり去られた。
Plucking out men as if they were uprooted stems of date-palms.
21. あの時のわが懲罰と戒めとはどうであったか。
Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
22. 誠にわれは，クルアーンを易しく説き明かした。さて，誰か悟る者があるか。
And We have indeed made the Qur'ân easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
23. サムード（もまた）警告を虚偽であるとした。
Thamûd (people also) belied the warnings.
24. そしてかれらは言った。「何と，わたしたちの中の一介の人間ではないですか。どうしてこんな者に従いますか。それこそ邪道，気違い沙汰です。
For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!"
25. わたしたちの間でかれだけに啓示が下されたのですか。いや，かれは大嘘付きです。」
"Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh) ] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!"
26. （仰せられた。）「かれらは明日知るであろう。どちらが大嘘付きであるかを。
Tomorrow they will come to know, who is the liar, the insolent one!
27. 本当にわれは，かれらを試みるため雌ラクダを送るであろう。あなたは耐え忍びかれらを見守れ。
Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih (Saleh) ], and be patient!
28. そしてかれらにラクダと水を分配し，順番に飲むよう伝えなさい。
And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns).
29. だがかれらは仲間を呼び寄せ，その男は（剣を）手にとると膝の腱を切ってしまった。
But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her).
30. その時のわが懲罰と戒めとがどうであったか。
Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings?
31. 本当にわれは，かれらに向っかて（耳をつんざく）一声を下すと，かれらは家畜の囲いに使われる枯れ株のようになった。
Verily, We sent against them a single Saîhah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder.
32. われは，クルアーンを易しく説き明した。さて，誰か悟る者があるか。
And indeed, We have made the Qur'ân easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
33. ルートの民も警告を虚偽であるとした。
The people of Lout (Lot) belied the warnings.
34. われは砂石の嵐をかれらに送った。ルートの家族だけは別であった。黎明にかれらを救い，
Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night,
35. われからの恩恵とした。このようにわれは感謝する者に報いる。
As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us).
36. （ルートは）わが懲罰をかれらに警告したのだが，かれらはその警告に就いて疑惑の念を抱いた。
And he [Lout (Lot)] indeed had warned them of Our Grasp, but they did doubt the warnings!
37. そしてかれの賓客（天使）を，かれから奪おうとしたので，われはかれらの目を潰した。「さあ，わが懲罰と警告を味わえ。」
And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings."
38. あくる朝，永遠の懲罰がかれらに下った。
And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning.
39. 「さあわが懲罰と警告を味わえ。」
"Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings."
40. われは，クルアーンを易しく説き明した。さあ，誰か悟る者があるか。
And indeed, We have made the Qur'ân easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
41. 本当にフィルアウンの一族にも警告者が遣わされた。
And indeed, warnings came to the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) [through Mûsa (Moses) and Hârûn (Aaron)].
42. （だが）われの種々の印を虚偽であるとした。それでわれは，偉大で強力な者の一摑みで，かれらを捕えた。
(They) belied all Our Signs, so We seized them with a Seizure of the All-Mighty, All-Capable to carry out what he Will (Omnipotent).
43. あなたがた不信心者（クライシュ族）の方が，これらの者よりも優れているのか。それとも啓典の中にあなたがたのための赦免があるのか。
Are your disbelievers (O Quraish!) better than these [nations of Nûh (Noah), Lout (Lot), Sâlih (Saleh), and the people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), etc., who were destroyed)? Or have you an immunity (against Our Torment) in the Divine Scriptures?
44. それともかれらは，「わたしたちは皆勝利を得る者です。」とでも言うのか。
Or do they say: "We are a great multitude, and we shall be victorious.?"
45. やがてこれらの人々は敗れ去り，逃げ去るであろう。
Their multitude will be put to flight, and they will show their backs.
46. いや（審判の）時は，かれらに約束された期限である。しかもその時には，最も嘆かわしい最も苦しい目にあうであろう。
Nay, but the Hour is their appointed time (for their full recompense), and the Hour will be more grievous and more bitter.
47. 本当にこれらの罪を犯している者たちは，迷っているか，気違いである。
Verily, the Mujrimûn (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.) are in error (in this world) and will burn (in the Hell-fire in the Hereafter).
48. 火の中に顔を下にして引きずられるその日，かれらは，「猛火の触れ具合を味わいなさい。」（と言われよう）。
The Day they will be dragged in the Fire on their faces (it will be said to them): "Taste you the touch of Hell!"[]
49. 本当にわれは凡ての事物を，きちんと計って創造した。
Verily, We have created all things with Qadar (Divine Preordainments of all things before their creation, as written in the Book of Decrees Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz).
50. またわが命令は只一言，瞬のようなものである。
And Our Commandment is but one, as the twinkling of an eye.
51. われはこれまで，あなたがた（マッカの多神教徒）の同類を滅ぼした。さて，誰か悟る者があるか。
And indeed, We have destroyed your likes, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
52. かれらの所行は，書冊に凡て記録されている。
And each and everything they have done is noted in (their) Records (of deeds).
53. 大小凡てのことが，等しく書き留められている。
And everything, small and big is written (in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz already beforehand i.e. before it befalls, or is done by its doer ÇáÇíä ÈÇáÞÏÑ) (See the Quran V.57:22).
54. 本当に主を畏れる者は，園と川のある，
Verily, The Muttaqun (pious), will be in the midst of Gardens and Rivers (Paradise).
55. 全能の王者の御許の，真理の座に（住むのである）。
In a seat of truth (i.e. Paradise), near the Omnipotent King (Allah, the All-Blessed, the Most High, the Owner of Majesty and Honour).
