慈悲あまねく慈愛深きアッラーの御名において。
In the Name of Allâh, the Most
Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
1. 荒々しく（罪深い者の魂を）引き離すものにおいて（誓う），
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence;
2. 優しく（信仰深い者の魂を）引き出すものにおいて，
By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers);
3. 泳ぐように（慈悲の使いに）滑走するものにおいて，
And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.).
4. 先を争って前進するものにおいて，
And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.).
5. （主の命令で）事を処理するものにおいて（誓う）。
And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account).
6. その日（第一のラッパで），震動が（凡てのものを）揺がし，
On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die),
7. 次のラッパ（で震動）が，続く。
The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up),
8. （不信者の）心は，その日戦き震え，
(Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety.
9. 目を伏せるであろう。
Their eyes cast down.
10. かれらは言う。「わたしたちは初め（生前）の状態に，本当に返るのでしょうか。
They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life?
11. 何と，わたしたちは朽ち果てた骨になってしまったのに。」
"Even after we are crumbled bones?"
12. かれらは言う。「その場合（復活），損な戻りです。」
They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!"
13. （復活は），只一声の叫びである。
But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19).
14. 見よ，かれらは目覚めて（地上に）現われる。
When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death,
15. ムーサーの物語が，あなたに届いたか。
Has there come to you the story of Mûsa (Moses)?
16. 主がトワーの聖谷に，かれを呼ばれた時を思い起せ。
When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tûwa,
17. （かれは仰せられた。）「あなたはフィルアウンの許に行け。本当にかれは目にあまる者である。
Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.).
18. そしてかれに言ってやるがいい。『あなたは（罪から）清められたいのか。
And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)",
19. わたしはあなたを，主の御許に導く。あなたは（かれを）畏れなさい。』」
And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him?
20. （ムーサーは）偉大な印をかれに示した。
Then [Mûsa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles).
21. だがかれ（フィルアウン）はそれを嘘であるとし，（導きに）従わなかった。
But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed;
22. 背を向けて急いで去った。
Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allâh).
23. かれ（フィルアウン）は，（その民を）集め宣言して，
Then he gathered his people and cried aloud,
24. 言った。「わたしはあなたがたの主，至高者である。」
Saying: "I am your lord, most high",
25. そこでアッラーはかれを懲しめ，来世と現世の生活に懲罰を加えられた。
So Allâh, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression.
26. 本当にこの中には（主を）畏れる者への一つの教訓がある。
Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allâh.
27. あなたがたは（かれが）うち建てられた天（の創造）が，あなたがたを創ることより難しいとでも思うのか。
Are you more difficult to create, or is the heaven that He constructed?
28.かれはそれを高く掲げ，それから整え，
He raised its height, and He has equally ordered it,
29. 夜を暗くなされ，また，光明を現わされる。
Its night He covers with darkness, and its forenoon He brings out (with light).
30. その後，大地を延べ広げられた。
And after that He spread the earth;
31. そこから水と牧場を現われさせ，
And brought forth therefrom its water and its pasture;
32. また山々をそれにしっかりと据えられ，
And the mountains He has fixed firmly;
33. あなたがたとあなたがたの家畜のための，用益に供される。
(To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.
34. それで大きい災厄が来ると，
But when there comes the greatest catastrophe (i.e. the Day of Recompense, etc.),
35. その日，人々は（現世で）その努力したことを思い出し，
The Day when man shall remember what he strove for,
36. また獄火は，誰でも見る（程の）者に（ありありと）現わされる。
And Hell-fire shall be made apparent in full view for (every) one who sees,
37. その時，酷く目にあまった者，
Then, for him who Taghâ (transgressed all bounds, in disbelief, oppression and evil deeds of disobedience to Allâh).
38. またこの世の生活を重んじていた者は，
And preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts),
39. 本当に火獄がその住まいであろう。
Verily, his abode will be Hell-fire;
40. だが主の御前に立つことを恐れた者，また低劣な欲望に対し（自分の）魂を抑制した者は，
But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires, and lusts.
41. 本当に楽園がその住まいであろう。
Verily, Paradise will be his abode.
42. かれらはその時に就いて，あなたに問う。「それが到来するのは，何時（の日）ですか。」
They ask you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) about the Hour, - when will be its appointed time?
43. あなたは，何によってそれを告げられようか。
You have no knowledge to say anything about it,
44. その終末（の知識）は，あなたの主にあるだけ。
To your Lord belongs (the knowledge of) the term thereof?
45. あなたは，それを恐れる者への，一人の警告者に過ぎない。
You (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) are only a warner for those who fear it,
46. かれらがそれを見る日，（墓の中に）滞留していたのは，一夕か一朝に過ぎなかったように思うであろう。
The Day they see it, (it will be) as if they had not tarried (in this world) except an afternoon or a morning.
