慈悲あまねく慈愛深きアッラーの御名において。
In the Name of Allâh, the Most
Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
1. 太陽が包み隠される時，
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown[] ).
2. 諸星が落ちる時，
And when the stars shall fall;
3. 山々が散る時，
And when the mountains shall made to pass away;
4. 孕んで10ケ月の雌駱駝が等閑にされる時，
And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected;
5. 様々な野獣が（恐怖の余り）群をなし集まる時，
And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together;
6. 大洋が沸きたち溢れる時，
And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow;
7. それぞれの魂が（肉体と）組み合わされる時，
And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies;
8. 生き埋められていた（女児が）
And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned.[]
9. どんな罪で殺されたかと問われる時，
For what sin she was killed?
10. （天の）帳簿が，開かれる時，
And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open;
11. 天が剥ぎ取られる時，
And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place;
12. 獄火が炎を上げさせられる時，
And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze.
13. 楽園が近付く時，
And when Paradise shall be brought near,
14. （その時）凡ての魂は，先に行った（善悪）の所業を知るであろう。
(Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil).
15. わたしは沈みゆく諸星において誓う。
So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night).
16. （軌道を）運行して没する（諸星において）
And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves,
17. 暗闇を迎える夜において，
And by the night as it departs;
18. 夜明けを迎える朝において（誓う）。
And by the dawn as it brightens;
19. 本当にこれ（クルアーン）は，高貴な使徒（ジブリール）の（アッラーからの）言葉
Verily, this is the Word (this Qur'ân brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allâh to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)].
20. （かれは）玉座の主の御前で（尊厳される地位の）座につく，力のある，
Owner of power, and high rank with (Allâh) the Lord of the Throne,
21. 従われ，信頼される（使徒である）。
Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens).
22. （人びとよ）あなたがたの仲間（ムハンマド）は，気違いではない。
And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman;
23. かれは，明るい地平線上にはっきりとかれ（ジブリール）を見た。
And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east).
24. かれは幽玄界（の知っていること）を出し借しまない。
And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen.
25. それ（クルアーン）は，呪われた悪魔の言葉でもない。
And it (the Qur'ân) is not the word of the outcast Shaitân (Satan).
26. それなのにあなたがたは（それらのことを信用せず）何処へ行くのか。
Then where are you going?
27. これ（クルアーン）こそは，万人への教訓に外ならない。
Verily, this (the Qur'ân) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamîn (mankind and jinns)[] .
28. それはあなたがたの中，誰でも正しい道を歩みたいと望む者のためのものである。
To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight,
29. だが万有の主，アッラーの御望みがない限り，あなたがたはこれを望むことも出来ないのである。
And you will not, unless (it be) that Allâh wills, the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns and all that exists).
