慈悲あまねく慈愛深きアッラーの御名において。
In the Name of Allâh, the Most
Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
1. 災いなるかな，量を減らす者こそは。
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)],
2. かれらは人から計って受け取る時は，十分に取り，
Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure,
3. （相手にわたす）量や重さを計るときは，少なく計量する者たちである。
And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.
4. これらの者は，甦ることを考えないのか，
Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning),
5. 偉大なる日に。
On a Great Day,
6. その日，（凡ての）人間は，万有の主の御前に立つのではないか。
The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?
7. 断じていけない。罰ある者の記録は，スィッジーンの中に（保管して）ある。
Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjâr (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjîn.
8. スィッジーンが何であるかを，あなたに理解させるものは何か。
And what will make you know what Sijjîn is?
9. （そこには完全に）書かれた一つの記録（がある）。
A Register inscribed.
10. 災いなるかな，その日，嘘であると言って来た者たちよ，
Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allâh, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)].
11. 審判の日を，嘘であると言って来た者たちこそは。
Those who deny the Day of Recompense.
12. これを嘘であると言って来た者は，反逆者，罪人に外ならない。
And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allâh, the sinner!)
13. わが印が，かれらに読誦された時，かれらは，「昔の物語だ。」と言った。
When Our Verses (of the Qur'ân) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!"
14. 断じてそうではない。思うにかれらの行った（悪）事が，その心の錆となったのである。
Nay! But on their hearts is the Rân (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn[] .
15. いや，本当にかれらは，その日，主（の御光）から締め出される。
Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day.
16. 次にかれらは，地獄できっと焼かれよう。
Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell.
17. そこで，かれらに，「これが，あなたがたが嘘であると言ってきたことである。」と告げられるであろう。
Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!"
18. これに引き替え敬虔な者の記録は，イッリッイーンの中に（保管して）ある。
Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrâr (the pious who fear Allâh and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyûn.
19. イッリッイーンが何であるかを，あなたに理解させるものは何か。
And what will make you know what 'Illiyyûn is?
20. （そこには完全に）書かれた一つの記録（があり），
A Register inscribed.
21. （主の）側近者たちが，それを立証する。
To which bear witness those nearest (to Allâh, i.e. the angels).
22. 本当に敬虔な者は，必ず至福の中におり，
Verily, Al-Abrâr (the pious who fear Allâh and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise).
23. かれらは寝床に寄って，見渡すであろう。
On thrones, looking (at all things).
24. あなたはかれらの顔に至福の輝きを認めよう。
You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight.
25. かれらは，封印された純良な酒を注がれる。
They will be given to drink pure sealed wine.
26. その封印はジャコウである。これを求め熱望する者に熱望させなさい。
The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allâh).
27. それにはタスニームが混ぜられよう。
It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnîm.
28. （アッラーに）近い者たち（善行者）は，その泉から飲もう。
A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allâh.
29. 本当に罪ある者たちは，信仰する者を嘲笑っていた。
Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.
30. そしてかれら（信者）の傍を過ぎると，互いに（嘲笑して）目くばせし，
And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery);
31. 家族の許へ帰る時，笑い草にしたものである。
And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting;
32. かれらはかれら（信者）を見かけると，「本当にこれらの者は迷っています。」と言う。
And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!"
33. だがかれらは，かれら（信者）の監視者として遣わされた者ではない。
But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers).
34. だがこの日は，信仰する者が不信者たちを笑い，
But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers[]
35. かれらは寝床に寄って，見渡すであろう。
On (high) thrones, looking (at all things).
36. 不信者たちは，その行いの報いを受けたであろうかと。
Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do?
