慈悲あまねく慈愛深きアッラーの御名において。
In the Name of Allâh, the Most
Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
1. 天が裂け割れて，
When the heaven is split asunder,
2. その主（の命）を聞き，従う時，
And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so;
3. 大地が延べ広げられ，
And when the earth is stretched forth,
4. その中のものを吐き出して空になり，
And has cast out all that was in it and became empty,
5. その主（の御命令）を聞き，従う時。
And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so;
6. おお人間よ，本当にあなたは，主の御許へと労苦して努力する者。かれに会うことになるのである。
O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did).
7. その時右手にその書冊を渡される者に就いては，
Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand,
8. かれの計算は直ぐ容易に精算され，
He surely will receive an easy reckoning,
9. かれらは喜んで，自分の人々の許に帰るであろう。
And will return to his family in joy!
10. だが背後に書冊を渡される者に就いては，
But whosoever is given his Record behind his back,
11. 直に死を求めて叫ぶのだが，
He will invoke (his) destruction,
12. 燃える炎で焼かれよう。
And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning.
13. 本当にかれは，自分の人々の中で歓楽していた。
Verily, he was among his people in joy!
14. かれは，本当に（主の許に）帰ることなどないであろうと思っていた。
Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)!
15. いや，主はいつもかれを見通しておられる。
Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him!
16. わたしは，落日の夕映えによって誓う。
So I swear by the afterglow of sunset;
17. 夜と，それに帰り集うものにおいて，
And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness;
18. また満ちたる月にかけて（誓う）。
And by the moon when it is at the full,
19. あなたがたは，必ず一層から他層に登るであろう。
You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter).
20. それでも，かれらが信じないのはどうした訳か。
What is the matter with them, that they believe not?
21. クルアーンが，かれらに読唱されると，かれらはサジダしようとはしない。〔サジダ〕
And when the Qur'ân is recited to them, they fall not prostrate,
22. いや，信じない者は，（それを）嘘であると言う。
Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Qur'ân and Islâmic Monotheism, etc.).[]
23. だがアッラーは，かれらの胸に隠すことを熟知なされる。
And Allâh knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds),
24. それであなたは，痛烈な懲罰をかれらに伝えなさい。
So announce to them a painful torment.
25. だが信仰して善行に勤しむ者は別である。かれらには絶えることのない報奨があろう。
Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise).
