慈悲あまねく慈愛深きアッラーの御名において。
In the Name of Allâh, the Most
Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
1. 至高の御方，あなたの主の御名を讃えなさい。
Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High,
2. かれは創造し，整え調和させる御方，
Who has created (everything), and then proportioned it;
3. またかれは，法を定めて導き，
And Who has measured (preordainments for each and everything even to be blessed or wretched); then guided (i.e. showed mankind the right as well as wrong paths, and guided the animals to pasture);
4. 牧野を現わされる御方。
And Who brings out the pasturage,
5. それから，浅黒く枯れた刈株になされる。
And Who brings out the pasturage,
6. われは，あなたに読誦させるようにした。それであなたは忘れないであろう。
We shall make you to recite (the Qur'ân), so you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) shall not forget (it),
7.アッラーの御望みがない限りは。本当にかれは，表われたものと隠れたものを知っておられる。
Except what Allâh, may will, He knows what is apparent and what is hidden.
8. われはあなたに（道を）平坦で，安易にするであろう。
And We shall make easy for you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) the easy way (i.e. the doing of righteous deeds).
9. だから訓戒しなさい。訓戒は（聞く者に）役立つ。
Therefore remind (men) in case the reminder profits (them).
10. 訓戒は，主を畏れる者に受け入れられよう。
The reminder will be received by him who fears (Allâh),
11. だが最も不幸な者は，それを避けるであろう。
But it will be avoided by the wretched,
12. かれは巨大な炎で焼かれよう。
Who will enter the great Fire and made to taste its burning,
13. その中で，死にも，生きもしない。
Wherein he will neither die (to be in rest) nor live (a good living).
14. だが自ら清めた者は必ず栄え，
Indeed whosoever purifies himself (by avoiding polytheism and accepting Islâmic Monotheism) shall achieve success,
15. かれの主の御名を唱念し，礼拝を守る。
And remembers (glorifies) the Name of his Lord (worships none but Allâh), and prays (five compulsory prayers and Nawâfil additional prayers).
16. いや，あなたがたは現世の生活の方を好む。
Nay, you prefer the life of this world;
17. 来世がもっと優れ，またもっと永遠なものであるのに。
Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting.
18. これは本当に，昔の啓典にあり，
Verily! This is in the former Scriptures,
19. イブラーヒームやムーサーの啓典にもある。
The Scriptures of Ibrâhim (Abraham) and Mûsa (Moses) (<><> <>).
