1. アッラーとその使徒から、あなたがたが盟約を結んだ多神教徒に対し解約が、（宣言）された。
Freedom from (all) obligations (is declared) from Allah and His Messenger (SAW) to those of the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah), with whom you made a treaty.
2. それにしても（多神教徒は）、４ヶ月の間は（任意に）国中を往来させなさい。あなたがたはアッラー（の計画）を、頓挫させられない、またアッラーは、不信者に屈辱を与えられることを知れ。
So travel freely (O Mushrikun - see V.2:105) for four months (as you will) throughout the land, but know that you cannot escape (from the Punishment of) Allah, and Allah will disgrace the disbelievers.
3. （これは）アッラーとその使徒から、偉大な巡礼の日にあたり、人びとへの（布告された）宣言。「本当にアッラーは、多神教徒と（の盟約）を解約された、その使徒にしても同じこと。それであなたがたがもし悔悟するならば、あなたがたのため最もよい。もし背き去るならば、アッラー（の計画）をあなたがたは頓挫させられないことを知れ。」信仰を拒否する者たちには、痛苦の懲罰を告げてやれ。
And a declaration from Allah and His Messenger to mankind on the greatest day (the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah - the 12th month of Islamic calendar) that Allah is free from (all) obligations to the Mushrikun (see V.2:105) and so is His Messenger. So if you (Mushrikun) repent, it is better for you, but if you turn away, then know that you cannot escape (from the Punishment of) Allah. And give tidings (O Muhammad SAW) of a painful torment to those who disbelieve.
4. （しかし）あなたがたの盟約した多神教徒で、破約したことなく、またその後、あなたがたに敵対する者を助けなかった者は別である。（これらの者に対しては）期間が満了するまで、かれらとの盟約を果しなさい。本当にアッラーは、主を畏れる者を愛でられる。
Except those of the Mushrikun with whom you have a treaty, and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor have supported anyone against you. So fulfill their treaty to them to the end of their term. Surely Allah loves Al- Mattaqun (the pious - see V.2:2).
5. 聖月が過ぎたならば、多神教徒を見付け次第殺し、またはこれを捕虜にし、拘禁し、また凡ての計略（を準備して）これを待ち伏せよ。だがかれらが悔悟して、礼拝の務めを守り、定めの喜捨をするならば、かれらのために道を開け。本当にアッラーは寛容にして慈悲深い方であられる。
Then when the Sacred Months (the Ist, 7th, 11th, and 12th months of the Islamic calendar) have passed, then kill the Mushrikun (see V.2:105) wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and prepare for them each and every ambush. But if they repent and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat, then leave their way free. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
6. もし多神教徒の中に、あなたに保護を求める者があれば保護し、アッラーの御言葉を聞かせ、その後かれを安全な所に送れ。これはかれらが、知識のない民のためである。
And if anyone of the Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) seeks your protection then grant him protection, so that he may hear the Word of Allah (the Quran), and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men who know not.
7. 多神教徒が、どうしてアッラーや使徒の許で盟約が出来ようか。只あなたがたが、聖なるマスジドで盟約した者たちは別である。それでかれらがあなたがたに誠実である間は、あなたがたもかれらに誠実であれ。本当にアッラーは主を畏れる者を愛でられる。
How can there be a covenant with Allah and with His Messenger for the Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) except those with whom you made a covenant near Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Makkah)? So long, as they are true to you, stand you true to them. Verily, Allah loves Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2).
8. どうして（盟約）出来よう。かれらはあなたがたに対し優位であると見れば、血縁であろうと盟約があろうとあなたがたを顧みない。かれらはロ先ではあなたがたを喜ばせているが、心では拒否する。かれらの多くは主の掟に背く者たちである。
How (can there be such a covenant with them) that when you are overpowered by them, they regard not the ties, either of kinship or of covenant with you? With (good words from) their mouths they please you, but their hearts are averse to you, and most of them are Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
9. かれらは僅かな代償でアッラーの印を売り、（人びとを）かれの道から妨げた。本当にかれらの行ったことは、大悪である。
They have purchased with the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah a little gain, and they hindered men from His Way; evil indeed is that which they used to do.
10. かれらは信者に対する場合、血縁も誓約も顧みない。かれらこそ法を越えた者である。
With regard to a believer, they respect not the ties, either of kinship or of covenant! It is they who are the transgressors.
11. だがもしかれらが悔悟して礼拝の務めを守り、定めの喜捨をするならば、かれらは教えの上の同胞である。われは印を理解する人びとのために詳述する。
But if they repent, perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give Zakat, then they are your brethren in religion. (In this way) We explain the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail for a people who know.
12. だがかれらがもし誓約した後にそれを破り、あなたがたの教えを罵るならば、不信者の首長たちと戦え。本当にかれらには誓いはないのである。恐らくかれらは止めるであろう。
But if they violate their oaths after their covenant, and attack your religion with disapproval and criticism then fight (you) the leaders of disbelief (chiefs of Quraish - pagans of Makkah) - for surely their oaths are nothing to them - so that they may stop (evil actions).
13. あなたがたは自分の誓いを破り、使徒を追放しようと企てた者たちと戦わないのか。かれらは最初にあなたがたを攻撃したのである。あなたがたはかれらを恐れるのか。いや、信者ならばアッラーをこそ、もっとも畏れるべきである。
Will you not fight a people who have violated their oaths (pagans of Makkah) and intended to expel the Messenger, while they did attack you first? Do you fear them? Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are believers.
14. かれらと戦え。アッラーはあなたがたの手によって、かれらを罰して屈辱を与える。かれらに対し（うち勝つよう）あなたがたを助け、信者の人びとの胸を癒される。
Fight against them so that Allah will punish them by your hands and disgrace them and give you victory over them and heal the breasts of a believing people,
15. またアッラーはかれらの心中の激怒を除き、御心に適う者の悔悟を赦されるであろう。アッラーは全知にして英明であられる。
And remove the anger of their (believers') hearts. Allah accepts the repentance of whom He wills. Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
16. それともアッラーは、あなたがたの中（教えのために）奮闘努力する者たち、またアッラーと使徒、と信者たち以外に親しい友を持たない者たちを、まだ知らずに、放って置かれると思うのか。本当にアッラーはあなたがたの行うことを熟知される。
Do you think that you shall be left alone while Allah has not yet tested those among you who have striven hard and fought and have not taken Walijah [(Batanah - helpers, advisors and consultants from disbelievers, pagans, etc.) giving openly to them their secrets] besides Allah and His Messenger, and the believers. Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.
17. 多神教徒たちにアッラーのマスジドを、自ら不信心を立証しているのに管理させるべきではない。これらの者の行いは虚しく、かれらは業火の中に永遠に住むであろう。
It is not for the Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah), to maintain the Mosques of Allah (i.e. to pray and worship Allah therein, to look after their cleanliness and their building, etc.), while they witness against their ownselves of disbelief. The works of such are in vain and in Fire shall they abide.
18. アッラーのマスジドは、ひたすらこれらの者（信者）によって管理されるべきである。（すなわち）アッラーと終末の日を信じ、礼拝の務めを守り、定めの喜捨をなし、アッラー以外の何ものをも恐れない者だけである。これらの者は、正しく導かれる者となるであろう。
The Mosques of Allah shall be maintained only by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day; perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and give Zakat and fear none but Allah. It is they who are expected to be on true guidance.
19. （だが）あなたがたは巡礼者に（水を）飲ませたり、または聖なるマスジドを管理する者と、アッラーと終末の日を信じ、アッラーの道のために奮闘努力する者とを同等にするのか。アッラーの御許では、両者は同等ではない。アッラーは不義の民を導かれない。
Do you consider the providing of drinking water to the pilgrims and the maintenance of Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Makkah) as equal to the worth of those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah? They are not equal before Allah. And Allah guides not those people who are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers).
20. 信仰する者、移住した者、またアッラーの道のために財産と生命を捧げて奮闘努力した者は、アッラーの御許においては最高の位階にあり、至上の幸福を成就する。
Those who believed (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism) and emigrated and strove hard and fought in Allah's Cause with their wealth and their lives are far higher in degree with Allah. They are the successful.
21. 主は、親しく慈悲と満悦を与えられ、かれらのために永遠の至福の楽園の吉報を与えられる。
Their Lord gives them glad tidings of a Mercy from Him, and that He is pleased (with them), and of Gardens (Paradise) for them wherein are everlasting delights.
22. かれらは永遠にその中に住むであろう。アッラーの御許には最大の報奨がある。
They will dwell therein forever. Verily, with Allah is a great reward.
23. 信仰する者よ、もしあなたがたの父または兄弟が、信仰より不信心を好むならば、かれらを親しい友としてはならない。もしあなたがたの中、かれらを親しい友とする者があれば、それらは不義の徒である。
O you who believe! Take not for Auliya' (supporters and helpers) your fathers and your brothers if they prefer disbelief to Belief. And whoever of you does so, then he is one of the Zalimun (wrong-doers, etc.).
24. 言ってやるがいい。「あなたがたの父、子、兄弟、あなたがたの妻、近親、あなたがたの手に入れた財産、あなたがたが不景気になることを恐れる商売、意にかなった住まいが、アッラーと使徒とかれの道のために奮闘努力するよりもあなたがたにとり好ましいならば、アッラーが命令を下されるまで待て。アッラーは掟に背いた民を導かれない。」
Say: If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your kindred, the wealth that you have gained, the commerce in which you fear a decline, and the dwellings in which you delight are dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger, and striving hard and fighting in His Cause, then wait until Allah brings about His Decision (torment). And Allah guides not the people who are Al-Fasiqun (the rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
25. アッラーは幾多の戦役、またフナインの（合戦の）日においても、確かにあなたがたを助けられた。その時あなたがたは多勢を頼みにしたが、それは何も役立たず、大地はあのように広いのにあなたがたのためには狭くなって、あなたがたは遂に背を向けて退却した。
Truly Allah has given you victory on many battle fields, and on the Day of Hunain (battle) when you rejoiced at your great number but it availed you naught and the earth, vast as it is, was straitened for you, then you turned back in flight.
26. その後アッラーは、使徒と信者たちの上にかれの安らぎを下し、またあなたがたには見えなかったが、軍勢を遣わして不信心な者たちを懲罰された。このようにかれは、不信者に報いられる。
Then Allah did send down His Sakinah (calmness, tranquillity and reassurance, etc.) on the Messenger (Muhammad SAW), and on the believers, and sent down forces (angels) which you saw not, and punished the disbelievers. Such is the recompense of disbelievers.
27. 更にアッラーは、それらの後、御心に適う者の悔悟を赦された。アッラーは寛容にして慈悲深くあられる。
Then after that Allah will accept the repentance of whom He will. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
28. あなたがた信仰する者よ、多神教徒は本当に不浄である。だからかれらのこの年以後、かれらを聖なるマスジドに近付かせてはならない。あなたがたがもし貧困を恐れても、アッラーが御好みになれば、その恩恵によって（主は）やがてあなたがたを富ませるであろう。本当にアッラーは全知にして英明であられる。
O you who believe (in Allah's Oneness and in His Messenger (Muhammad SAW)! Verily, the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, and in the Message of Muhammad SAW) are Najasun (impure). So let them not come near Al-Masjid-al-Haram (at Makkah) after this year, and if you fear poverty, Allah will enrich you if He will, out of His Bounty. Surely, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
29. アッラーも、終末の日をも信じない者たちと戦え。またアッラーと使徒から、禁じられたことを守らず、啓典を受けていながら真理の教えを認めない者たちには、かれらが進んで税〔ジズヤ〕を納め、屈服するまで戦え。
Fight against those who (1) believe not in Allah, (2) nor in the Last Day, (3) nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger (4) and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.
30. ユダヤ人はウザイルを、アッラーの子であるといい、キリスト教徒はマスィーフを、アッラーの子であるという。これはかれらが口先で言うところで、昔の不信心な者の言葉を真似たものである。かれらにアッラーの崇りあれ。かれらは（真理から）何と迷い去ったことよ。
And the Jews say: 'Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: Messiah is the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouths. They imitate the saying of the disbelievers of old. Allah's Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!
31. かれらは、アッラーをおいて律法学者や修道士を自分の主となし、またマルヤムの子マスィーフを（主としている）。しかしかれらは、唯一なる神に仕える以外の命令を受けてはいない。かれの外に神はないのである。かれらが配するものから離れて（高くいます）かれを讃える。
They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allah (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allah), and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded [in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)) to worship none but One Ilah (God - Allah) La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). Praise and glory be to Him, (far above is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him)."
32. かれらは口先で、アッラーの御光（イスラーム）を消そうと望んでいるが、仮令不信者たちが嫌おうとも、アッラーはかれの御光を全うされる。
They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allah's Light (with which Muhammad SAW has been sent - Islamic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kafirun (disbelievers) hate (it).
33. かれこそは、導きと真理の教えをもって使徒を遣し、仮令多神教徒たちが忌み嫌おうとも、凡ての宗教の上にそれを表わされる方である。
It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) hate (it).
34. あなたがた信仰する者たちよ、律法学者や修道士の多くは偽って人びとの財産を貪り、（かれらを）アッラーの道から妨げている。また金や銀を蓄えて、それをアッラーの道のために施さない者もいる。かれらに痛ましい懲罰を告げてやれ。
O you who believe! Verily, there are many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks who devour the wealth of mankind in falsehood, and hinder (them) from the Way of Allah (i.e. Allah's Religion of Islamic Monotheism). And those who hoard up gold and silver [Al-Kanz: the money, the Zakat of which has not been paid], and spend it not in the Way of Allah, -announce unto them a painful torment.
35. その日、それら（の金銀）は地獄の火で熱せられて、かれらの額やわき腹や背に、焼印が押されるであろう。「これはあなたがたが自分の魂のために、蓄積したものである。だからあなたがたが蓄積したものを味わえ。」
On the Day when that (Al-Kanz: money, gold and silver, etc., the Zakat of which has not been paid) will be heated in the Fire of Hell and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, (and it will be said unto them):-"This is the treasure which you hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what you used to hoard."
36. 本当にアッラーの御許で、（１年の）月数は、１２ヶ月である。アッラーが天と地を創造された日（以来の）、かれの書巻のなか（の定め）である。その中４（ヶ月）が聖（月）である。それが正しい教えである。だからその聖月中にあなたがたは互いに不義をしてはならない。そして多神教徒が皆であなたがたと戦うように、（あなたがたも）皆で戦え。アッラーは、主を畏れる者と共におられることを知れ。
Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred, (i.e. the 1st, the 7th, the 11th and the 12th months of the Islamic calendar). That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein, and fight against the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) collectively, as they fight against you collectively. But know that Allah is with those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2).
37. 本当に（聖月を）延ばすことは、不信心を増長させ、それで不信者は誤って導かれている。ある年は（聖月を）普通の月とし、（他の年は）聖月とする。かれらはアッラーが禁じられた（聖月の）数と合せるために、アッラーが禁じられたもの（聖月）を（戦いが）合法であるとする。かれらの間違った行いは、かれらには立派に見える。アッラーは信仰を拒否する民を導かれない。
The postponing (of a Sacred Month) is indeed an addition to disbelief: thereby the disbelievers are led astray, for they make it lawful one year and forbid it another year in order to adjust the number of months forbidden by Allah, and make such forbidden ones lawful. The evil of their deeds seems pleasing to them. And Allah guides not the people, who disbelieve.
38. 信仰する者たちよ、あなたがたはどうしたのか。「アッラーの道のために出征せよ。」と言われた時、地に低頭するとは。あなたがたは来世よりも、現世の生活に満足するのか。現世の生活の楽しみは、来世に比べれば微少なものに過ぎない。
O you who believe! What is the matter with you, that when you are asked to march forth in the Cause of Allah (i.e. Jihad) you cling heavily to the earth? Are you pleased with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But little is the enjoyment of the life of this world as compared with the Hereafter.
39. あなたがたが奮起して出動しないならば、かれは痛ましい懲罰をもって懲しめ、他の民をあなたがたと替えられる。あなたがたは少しもかれを損うことは出来ない。本当にアッラーは凡てのことに全能であられる。
If you march not forth, He will punish you with a painful torment and will replace you by another people, and you cannot harm Him at all, and Allah is Able to do all things.
40. 仮令あなたがたがかれ（使徒）を助けず、不信心の者たちが、かれを追放しても、アッラーは必ずかれを助けられる。かれは、只１人（の同僚）と、２人で洞窟にいた時、その同僚に向かって「心配してはならない。アッラーはわたしたちと共におられる。」と言ったその時アッラーはかれの安らぎを、かれ（アブー・バクル）に与え、あなたがたには見えないが、（天使の）軍勢でかれを強められた。また不信者たちの言葉を最も低いものになされ、アッラーの御言葉を最も高められた。本当にアッラーは偉力ならびなく英明であられる。
If you help him (Muhammad SAW) not (it does not matter), for Allah did indeed help him when the disbelievers drove him out, the second of two, when they (Muhammad SAW and Abu Bakr ÑÖì ) were in the cave, and he (SAW) said to his companion (Abu Bakr ÑÖì ): "Be not sad (or afraid), surely Allah is with us." Then Allah sent down His Sakinah (calmness, tranquillity, peace, etc.) upon him, and strengthened him with forces (angels) which you saw not, and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowermost, while it was the Word of Allah that became the uppermost, and Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
41. あなたがたは奮起して、軽くあるいは重く（備えて）出動しなさい。そしてあなたがたの財産と生命を捧げて、アッラーの道のために奮闘努力しなさい。もしあなたがたが理解するならば、それがあなたがたのために最も良い。
March forth, whether you are light (being healthy, young and wealthy) or heavy (being ill, old and poor), strive hard with your wealth and your lives in the Cause of Allah. This is better for you, if you but knew.
42. もし間近かに利得があり、また征途も短いならば、かれらは必ずあなたに従ったであろう。だがかれらには、道のりが（余りに）遠いと思われた。間もなく、かれらは、アッラーにかけて誓う。「出来ることなら、あなたがたと一緒に出征したのだが。」かれらは自分の魂を滅ぼす者である。アッラーはかれらが、偽っていることを知っておられる。
Had it been a near gain (booty in front of them) and an easy journey, they would have followed you, but the distance (Tabuk expedition) was long for them, and they would swear by Allah, "If we only could, we would certainly have come forth with you." They destroy their ownselves, and Allah knows that they are liars.
43. アッラーはあなた（ムハンマド）を許した。何故あなたは、真実を述べる者が、あなたにはっきりして、嘘付きたちが分かる前に、かれら（がその家に留まること）を許したのか。
May Allah forgive you (O Muhammad SAW). Why did you grant them leave (for remaining behind, you should have persisted as regards your order to them to proceed on Jihad), until those who told the truth were seen by you in a clear light, and you had known the liars?
44. アッラーと終末の日とを信じる者は、自分の財産と生命を捧げて奮闘することを（免れようなどと）、あなたに求めたりはしない。アッラーは主を畏れる者を熟知される。
Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day would not ask your leave to be exempted from fighting with their properties and their lives, and Allah is the All-Knower of Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2).
45. アッラーと終末の日とを信じない者だけ、あなたに（免れようと）求める。かれらは心に疑っており、それでかれらは疑いの中にさ迷っている。
It is only those who believe not in Allah and the Last Day and whose hearts are in doubt that ask your leave (to be exempted from Jihad). So in their doubts they waver.
46. もしかれらに出征する意志があるならば、それに対し必ず（何らかの）準備をなすべきである。だがアッラーは、かれらを出征させるのを嫌って、遅れさせられ、かれらに、「あなたがたは（戦闘力なく家に）留まる者と共に留まれ。」と仰せられた。
And if they had intended to march out, certainly, they would have made some preparation for it, but Allah was averse to their being sent forth, so He made them lag behind, and it was said (to them), "Sit you among those who sit (at home)."
47. かれらは仮令あなたに従って出征しても、只足手まといになるだけである。あなたがたの間に騒動（の因）を捜し求めてあちこち走り回り、そのためあなたがたの中にはかれらに耳を傾ける者もでてこよう。だがアッラーは不義の者を熟知される。
Had they marched out with you, they would have added to you nothing except disorder, and they would have hurried about in your midst (spreading corruption) and sowing sedition among you, and there are some among you who would have listened to them. And Allah is the All-Knower of the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.).
48. かれらは、以前も不穏の行為を考えて、あなたにたいして事態を転覆させた。だがかれらの意に反して、真理が実現し、アッラーの教えが明示された。
Verily, they had plotted sedition before, and had upset matters for you, - until the truth (victory) came and the Decree of Allah (His Religion, Islam) became manifest though they hated it.
49. かれらの中、「わたしを許して（家に留め）、試みに会わせないで下さい。」と言う者もある。聞け、かれらは既に試みの中にいるではないか。本当に地獄は、（凡ての方向から）不信者たちを取り囲んでいる。
And among them is he who says:"Grant me leave (to be exempted from Jihad) and put me not into trial." Surely, they have fallen into trial. And verily, Hell is surrounding the disbelievers.
50. もしあなたに良いことが下れば、かれらを悲しませる。また災厄があなたを襲えば、かれらは、「わたしたちはもう、以前から用心していたのだ。」と言い、喜んで背き去る。
If good befalls you (O Muhammad SAW), it grieves them, but if a calamity overtakes you, they say: "We took our precaution beforehand," and they turn away rejoicing.
51. 言ってやるがいい。「アッラーが、わたしたちに定められる（運命の）外には、何もわたしたちにふりかからない。かれは、わたしたちの守護者であられる。信者たちはアッラーを信頼しなければならない。」
Say: "Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allah has ordained for us. He is our Maula (Lord, Helper and Protector)." And in Allah let the believers put their trust.
52. 言ってやるがいい。「あなたがたには、光栄ある２つのことの１つの外に、（どんな運命が）期待出来ようか。だがわたしたちには、あなたがた（不信者）のために、アッラーが御自身で懲罰なされるか、またはわたしたち（ムスリム）の手による、（処罰）を期待することが出来る。それであなたがたは待ちなさい。わたしたちもあなたがたと共に待つものである。」
Say: "Do you wait for us (anything) except one of the two best things (martyrdom or victory); while we await for you either that Allah will afflict you with a punishment from Himself or at our hands. So wait, we too are waiting with you."
53. 言ってやるがいい。「仮令あなたがたが、快よく施し、貢献をしても、不承不承であろうとも、決して受け入れられないであろう。本当にあなたがたは、アッラーの掟に背く者たちである。」
Say: "Spend (in Allah's Cause) willingly or unwillingly, it will not be accepted from you. Verily, you are ever a people who are Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah)."
54. かれらの施し（貢献）が、受け入れられてもらえないのは、只かれらが、アッラーとその使徒を信じないためであり、のらくら者のように礼拝に赴くだけで、しぶしぶと施すからに外ならない。
And nothing prevents their contributions from being accepted from them except that they disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger (Muhammad SAW); and that they came not to As-Salat (the prayer) except in a lazy state; and that they offer not contributions but unwillingly.
55. だからあなたがたは、かれらの財産や子女に心を奪われてはならない。アッラーは、これらによって現世の生活の中に、かれらを懲罰しようとおぼしめし、またかれらの魂が不信心の中に離れ去ることを望まれるためである。
So let not their wealth or their children amaze you (O Muhammad SAW); in reality Allah's Plan is to punish them with these things in the life of the this world, and that their souls shall depart (die) while they are disbelievers.
56. かれらは、アッラーに誓って、「本当にあなたがたの同士です。」と言う。かれらはあなたがたの同士ではない。かれらは今も（自分の真意が現われるのを）恐れる人びとである。
They swear by Allah that they are truly of you while they are not of you, but they are a people (hypocrites) who are afraid (that you may kill them).
57. もしかれらが、避難所か洞窟、または潜り込む所を見い出せれば、必ずそれに向こう見ずに急いで行ったであろう。
Should they find a refuge, or caves, or a place of concealment, they would turn straightway thereto with a swift rush.
58. かれらの中には、施し（の配分）のことに就いてあなたを謗る者がいる。それを与えられた者は、喜ぶが、それを与えられないならば、見なさい。直ぐに怒り出す。
And of them are some who accuse you (O Muhammad SAW) in the matter of (the distribution of) the alms. If they are given part thereof, they are pleased, but if they are not given thereof, behold! They are enraged!
59. もしかれらがアッラーと使徒から自分たちに与えられたものに満足するならば、こう言うべきであった。「アッラーは、わたしたちにとって万全であられます。アッラーと使徒は、その恵みにより（更に多くを）わたしたちに与えられるでしょう。わたしたちは（正しい道を踏むよう）アッラーに嘆願します。」
Would that they were contented with what Allah and His Messenger (SAW) gave them and had said: "Allah is Sufficient for us. Allah will give us of His Bounty, and (also) His Messenger (from alms, etc.). We implore Allah (to enrich us)."
60. 施し〔サダカ〕は、貧者、困窮者、これ（施しの事務）を管理する者、および心が（真理に）傾いてきた者のため、また身代金や負債の救済のため、またアッラーの道のため（に率先して努力する者）、また旅人のためのものである。これはアッラーの決定である。アッラーは全知にして英明であられる。
As-Sadaqat (here it means Zakat) are only for the Fuqara' (poor), and Al-Masakin (the poor) and those employed to collect (the funds); and for to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allah's Cause (i.e. for Mujahidun - those fighting in the holy wars), and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allah. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise.
61. またかれらの中には、預言者を困らせて、「かれは（只の）耳です。」と言う者がある。言ってやるがいい。「かれはあなたがたのため、善いことの聞き手である、かれはアッラーを信仰し、信者たちを信頼する。またあなたがたの中の信仰する者のためには（アッラーからの）慈悲である。アッラーの使徒を悩ます者には、痛ましい懲罰がある。」
And among them are men who hurt the Prophet (Muhammad SAW) and say: "He is (lending his) ear (to every news)." Say: "He listens to what is best for you; he believes in Allah; has faith in the believers; and is a mercy to those of you who believe." But those who hurt Allah's Messenger (Muhammad SAW) will have a painful torment.
62. かれらはあなたがたを喜ばせるため、アッラーにかけて誓う。だがかれらが（真の）信者ならば、アッラーとその使徒の喜びを得るのが最も正しい。
They swear by Allah to you (Muslims) in order to please you, but it is more fitting that they should please Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW), if they are believers.
63. かれらは知らないのか、アッラーとその使徒に反抗する者には、実に火獄が用意されており、その中に永遠に住むことを。それは大きな屈辱である。
Know they not that whoever opposes and shows hostility to Allah (ÚÒ æ Ìá) and His Messenger (SAW), certainly for him will be the Fire of Hell to abide therein. That is extreme disgrace.
64. 背信者は、自分の心の中に抱くことを暴露する１章〔スーラ〕が下されることを警戒している。言ってやるがいい。「嘲笑しておれ。本当にアッラーは、あなたがたが恐れるものを暴き出される。」
The hypocrites fear lest a Surah (chapter of the Quran) should be revealed about them, showing them what is in their hearts. Say: "(Go ahead and) mock! But certainly Allah will bring to light all that you fear."
65. もしあなたがかれらに問えば、かれらは必ずわたしたちは、無駄話をしてたわむれているだけです」と言う。言ってやるがいい。「あなたがたは、アッラーとかれの印と使徒を、嘲笑していたではないか。」
If you ask them (about this), they declare: "We were only talking idly and joking." Say: "Was it at Allah (ÚÒ æ Ìá), and His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and His Messenger (SAW) that you were mocking?"
66. 「弁解するには及ばない。あなたがたは確かに一度信仰に入って後、不信心になった。われは、仮令あなたがたの一部を許しても、外は罪を犯していたので懲罰するであろう。」
Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after you had believed. If We pardon some of you, We will punish others amongst you because they were Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.).
67. 男の背信者も女の背信者も、凡て同類である。かれらは邪悪を命じ、正しいことを禁じ、（アッラーの道のために費すことに）その手を閉じる。かれらはアッラーを忘れるが、かれもかれらを忘れられる。本当に背信者たちは、アッラーの掟に背く者たちである。
The hypocrites, men and women, are from one another, they enjoin (on the people) Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief and polytheism of all kinds and all that Islam has forbidden), and forbid (people) from Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and they close their hands [from giving (spending in Allah's Cause) alms, etc.]. They have forgotten Allah, so He has forgotten them. Verily, the hypocrites are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
68. アッラーは、男の背信者と女の背信者、また不信者に、地獄の火を約束され、その中に永遠に住ませられる。それはかれらにとっては十分である。アッラーはかれらを見限り、かれらには永遠の懲罰があろう。
Allah has promised the hypocrites; men and women, and the disbelievers, the Fire of Hell, therein shall they abide. It will suffice them. Allah has cursed them and for them is the lasting torment.
69. あなた以前の民と同じように（あなたがたもそうである）。かれらは、その力はあなたがたよりも強く、財産と子女でも遙かに多かった。かれらはその福分を享楽した。それであなたがた以前の者がその福分を享楽したように、あなたがたの福分を享楽する。またかれらが耽ったように、あなたがたも（無駄話に）耽っている。これらの者の行いは、現世でもまた来世でも、実を結ばない。これらの者こそ失敗者である。
Like those before you, they were mightier than you in power, and more abundant in wealth and children. They had enjoyed their portion awhile, so enjoy your portion awhile as those before you enjoyed their portion awhile; and you indulged in play and pastime (and in telling lies against Allah and His Messenger Muhammad SAW) as they indulged in play and pastime. Such are they whose deeds are in vain in this world and in the Hereafter. Such are they who are the losers.
70. かれらには、先人のこれらの消息が達しなかったのか。ヌーフ、アード、サムードの民、またイブラーヒームの民、マドヤンの住民、また転覆した諸都市（の民の消息が）。使徒たちはかれらに証をするためにやって来た。アッラーはかれらを損われない。だがかれらは自分自身を害した。
Has not the story reached them of those before them? - The people of Nuh (Noah), 'Ad, and Thamud, the people of Ibrahim (Abraham), the dwellers of Madyan (Midian) and the cities overthrown [i.e. the people to whom Lout (Lot) preached], to them came their Messengers with clear proofs. So it was not Allah Who wronged them, but they used to wrong themselves.
71. 男の信者も女の信者も、互いに仲間である。かれらは正しいことをすすめ、邪悪を禁じる。また礼拝の務めを守り、定めの喜捨をなし、アッラーとその使徒に従う。これらの者に、アッラーは慈悲を与える。本当にアッラーは偉力ならびなく英明であられる。
The believers, men and women, are Auliya' (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another, they enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden); they perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give the Zakat, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah will have His Mercy on them. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
72. アッラーは、男の信者にも女の信者にも、川が永遠に下を流れる楽園に住むことを約束された。また永遠〔アドン〕の園の中の、立派な館をも。だが最も偉大なものは、アッラーの御満悦である。それを得ることは、至上の幸福の成就である。
Allah has promised to the believers -men and women, - Gardens under which rivers flow to dwell therein forever, and beautiful mansions in Gardens of 'Adn (Eden Paradise). But the greatest bliss is the Good Pleasure of Allah. That is the supreme success.
73. 預言者よ、不信者と背信者に対し奮闘努力し、かれらに厳しく対処せよ。かれらの住まいは地獄である。何と悪い帰り所であることよ。
O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! Strive hard against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be harsh against them, their abode is Hell, - and worst indeed is that destination.
74. かれらはアッラーに、「（悪い事は）何も言わない。」と誓う。だがかれらは確かに不信心な話をし、１度イスラームを受け入れた後不信心になり、成就し得ないことを企む。アッラーと使徒が、その恩恵によってかれらを（戦利品で）富裕になされていることに対して復讐をしたに過ぎない。もし悔悟するならばかれらのために最も良い。もし背き去るならば、アッラーは現世でも来世でも痛ましい懲罰でかれらを罰される。かれらは地上に、保護者も援助者もないであろう。
They swear by Allah that they said nothing (bad), but really they said the word of disbelief, and they disbelieved after accepting Islam, and they resolved that (plot to murder Prophet Muhammad SAW) which they were unable to carry out, and they could not find any cause to do so except that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them of His Bounty. If then they repent, it will be better for them, but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a painful torment in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. And there is none for them on earth as a Wali (supporter, protector) or a helper.
75. かれらの中アッラーと約束を結んだ者は（言った）。「もしかれが、わたしたちに恩恵を与えれば、わたしたちは必ず施しをなし、必ず正しい者の仲間になるでしょう。」
And of them are some who made a covenant with Allah (saying): "If He bestowed on us of His Bounty, we will verily, give Sadaqah (Zakat and voluntary charity in Allah's Cause) and will be certainly among those who are righteous."
76. だがかれが、恩恵を与えれば、かれらはそれに貪欲になって、（約束に）背き（宗教への貢献を）嫌う。
Then when He gave them of His Bounty, they became niggardly [refused to pay the Sadaqah (Zakat or voluntary charity)], and turned away, averse.
77. それでかれらがかれに会う日まで、その心の中に偽善を抱かせて懲らしめられる。それはかれらがアッラーとの約束を破り、（度々）偽りを言っていたためである。
So He punished them by putting hypocrisy into their hearts till the Day whereon they shall meet Him, because they broke that (covenant with Allah) which they had promised Him and because they used to tell lies.
78. かれらはアッラーが、かれらの隠し（た考え）も秘密の相談も、知っておられることを知らないのか。またアッラーが、見得ないこと凡てを熟知されている（ことを）。
Know they not that Allah knows their secret ideas, and their Najwa (secret counsels), and that Allah is the All-Knower of the unseen.
79. 信者たちで進んで慈善のために施しをする者を罵り、または自分の労力の外に、施すもののない者を罵って、かれらに嘲笑を加える者がある。アッラーはその嘲笑をかれらに返される。かれらに対しては痛ましい懲罰があろう。
Those who defame such of the believers who give charity (in Allah's Cause) voluntarily, and those who could not find to give charity (in Allah's Cause) except what is available to them, so they mock at them (believers), Allah will throw back their mockery on them, and they shall have a painful torment.
80. あなたがかれらのために御赦しを請おうとも、また請わなくても（かれらの罪は免れられない）。あなたが仮令７０回、かれらのために御赦しを請うても、アッラーはかれらを赦されないであろう。これはかれらがアッラーとその使徒を信じないためである。アッラーは掟に背く者を御導きになられない。
Whether you (O Muhammad SAW) ask forgiveness for them (hypocrites) or ask not forgiveness for them (and even) if you ask seventy times for their forgiveness Allah will not forgive them, because they have disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW). And Allah guides not those people who are Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
81. （タブーク遠征にさいし）後方に留まった者は、アッラーの使徒の（出征した）後、残留していることを喜び、生命と財産を捧げて、アッラーの道のために奮闘努力することを嫌って、言った。「この炎暑の最中に出征するな。」言ってやるがいい。「地獄の火は、もっとも厳しい熱さなのだ。」かれらがもし悟るならば。
Those who stayed away (from Tabuk expedition) rejoiced in their staying behind the Messenger of Allah; they hated to strive and fight with their properties and their lives in the Cause of Allah, and they said: "March not forth in the heat." Say: "The Fire of Hell is more intense in heat", if only they could understand!
82. それでかれらを少し笑わせ、多く泣かせてやりなさい。これは、かれらが行ったことに対する応報である。
So let them laugh a little and (they will) cry much as a recompense of what they used to earn (by committing sins).
83. アッラーがあなたをもしかれらの一味に返されれば、かれらは（一緒に）出征する許可を、あなたに求めるであろう。その時かれらに言ってやるがいい。「あなたがたは決して、わたしと一緒に出征しないであろう。またわたしと一緒に敵と戦わないであろう。本当にあなたがたは、最初の時、（家に）残留していることに満足していた。だから残留する者と、一緒に座っていなさい。」
If Allah brings you back to a party of them (the hypocrites), and they ask your permission to go out (to fight), say: "Never shall you go out with me, nor fight an enemy with me; you agreed to sit inactive on the first occasion, then you sit (now) with those who lag behind."
84. かれらの中の誰かが死んでも、あなたは決してかれのために、（葬儀の）礼拝を捧げてはならない。またその墓の側に立ってはならない。本当にかれらは、アッラーとその使徒を信じないまま主の掟に背く者として死んだのである。
And never (O Muhammad SAW) pray (funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave. Certainly they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger, and died while they were Fasiqun (rebellious, - disobedient to Allah and His Messenger SAW).
85. またあなたは、かれらの財産や子女に、心を奪われてはならない。本当にアッラーは、これらのものによって、現世においてかれらを罰しようという思召であり、またかれらの魂が、不信心の中に離れ去ることを望まれる。
And let not their wealth or their children amaze you. Allah's Plan is to punish them with these things in this world, and that their souls shall depart (die) while they are disbelievers.
86. 「アッラーを信じ、かれの使徒と共に奮闘せよ。」と１章〔スーラ〕が下された時、かれらの中能力ある者が、あなたに免除を求めて言う。「わたしたちを（家に）留まる者と一緒に、いさせて下さい。」
And when a Surah (chapter from the Quran) is revealed, enjoining them to believe in Allah and to strive hard and fight along with His Messenger, the wealthy among them ask your leave to exempt them (from Jihad) and say, "Leave us (behind), we would be with those who sit (at home)."
87. かれらは背後で（家に）留まる者と一緒にいることを好む。かれらの心は封じられた。だからかれらは悟らない。
They are content to be with those (the women) who sit behind (at home). Their hearts are sealed up (from all kinds of goodness and right guidance), so they understand not.
88. しかし使徒とかれと共に信仰する者たちは、財産と生命とを捧げて奮闘努力する。かれらには（凡ての）善いことがあり、これらこそ成功する者である。
But the Messenger (Muhammad SAW) and those who believed with him (in Islamic Monotheism) strove hard and fought with their wealth and their lives (in Allah's Cause). Such are they for whom are the good things, and it is they who will be successful.
89. アッラーはかれらのために、川が下を永遠に流れる楽園を備えられ、かれらはその中に永遠に住むであろう。それは至上の幸福の成就である。
For them Allah has got ready Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.
90. また（遊牧の）アラビア人の中からも、許しを求め（出征免除の）弁解に来た者があった。これらアッラーとその使徒を偽わる者は皆、（只家に）居残っていた。これら不信心の者は、やがて痛ましい懲罰を受けるであろう。
And those who made excuses from the bedouins came (to you, O Prophet SAW) asking your permission to exempt them (from the battle), and those who had lied to Allah and His Messenger sat at home (without asking the permission for it); a painful torment will seize those of them who disbelieve.
91. 虚弱な者、病んでいる者、と（道のために）供出するもののない者は、アッラーとその使徒に対して忠誠である限り罪はない。善い行いをする者に対しては（非難される）筋はない。アッラーは寛容にして慈悲深くあられる。
There is no blame on those who are weak or ill or who find no resources to spend [in holy fighting (Jihad)], if they are sincere and true (in duty) to Allah and His Messenger. No ground (of complaint) can there be against the Muhsinun (good-doers - see the footnote of V.9:120). And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
92. またあなたに（戦のための）乗り物を求めて来たとき、あなたが「わたしにはあなたがたに提供する乗り物がない。」と告げると、両目に涙をたたえて（馬などを購入する）資金のないことを悲しんで帰っていく人びと（も非難される筋はない）。
Nor (is there blame) on those who came to you to be provided with mounts, and when you said: "I can find no mounts for you," they turned back, while their eyes overflowing with tears of grief that they could not find anything to spend (for Jihad).
93. 責められるべき筋は、富裕にも拘らずあなたに（出征の）免除を願い出る者たちだけである。かれらは背後に留まる者と、一緒にいるのを喜ぶ。アッラーはかれらの心を封じられた。従って（失うものを）知らないのである。
The ground (of complaint) is only against those who are rich, and yet ask exemption. They are content to be with (the women) who sit behind (at home) and Allah has sealed up their hearts (from all kinds of goodness and right guidance) so that they know not (what they are losing).
94. あなたがたが（居所）に帰るとかれらは許しを請うであろう。言ってやるがいい。「許しを請うてはならない。わたしたちは決してあなたがたを信じない。アッラーは、既にあなたがたの出来事を告げ知らせられた。またアッラーと使徒は、あなたがたの行いを見守るであろう。それからあなたがたは、幽玄界と現象界を知っておられる御方に帰される。その時かれは、あなたがたが行った（凡ての）ことを告げ知らせられる。」
They (the hypocrites) will present their excuses to you (Muslims), when you return to them. Say (O Muhammad SAW) "Present no excuses, we shall not believe you. Allah has already informed us of the news concerning you. Allah and His Messenger will observe your deeds. In the end you will be brought back to the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen, then He (Allah) will inform you of what you used to do." [Tafsir At-Tabari]
95. あなたがた（信者）が（戦いから）帰ってきた時、あなたがたが（責めないで）放置するようアッラーにかけてかれらは誓うであろう。それでは放っておけ。かれらは本当に不浄であり、地獄がかれらの住まいである。かれらの（悪い）行いに対する報いである。
They will swear by Allah to you (Muslims) when you return to them, that you may turn away from them. So turn away from them. Surely, they are Rijsun [i.e. Najasun (impure) because of their evil deeds], and Hell is their dwelling place, - a recompense for that which they used to earn.
96. かれらはあなたがたに気に入られるようにあなたがたに誓うかもしれない。だがもしあなたがたがかれらを気に入っても、本当にアッラーは、アッラーの掟に背く者を御喜びになられない。
They (the hypocrites) swear to you (Muslims) that you may be pleased with them, but if you are pleased with them, certainly Allah is not pleased with the people who are Al-Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
97. （遊牧の）アラビア人の不信心と偽善はもっと甚だしく、かれらはアッラーが使徒に下された掟に就いては、まったく無知である。だがアッラーは全知にして英明であられる。
The bedouins are the worst in disbelief and hypocrisy, and more likely to be in ignorance of the limits (Allah's Commandments and His Legal Laws, etc.) which Allah has revealed to His Messenger. And Allah is All-Knower, All-Wise.
98. （遊牧の）アラビア人の中には、（アッラーの道のため）かれらの施したものを、上納金のように思い、いっそあなたがた（ムスリム）に凶運が下るよう待ち望んでいる者がある。かれらの上にこそ凶運が見舞うであろう。アッラーは全聴にして全知であられる。
And of the bedouins there are some who look upon what they spend (in Allah's Cause) as a fine and watch for calamities for you, on them be the calamity of evil. And Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
99. しかし（遊牧の）アラビア人の中のある者は、アッラーと最後の日を信じ、かれらの支出をアッラーに近付き、また使徒の祝福に預るための、捧げ物と考えている。聞け。本当にそれはかれらをアッラーに近付け、かれはやがてかれらを慈悲に浴させられる。本当にアッラーは寛容にして慈悲深くあられる。
And of the bedouins there are some who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and look upon what they spend in Allah's Cause as approaches to Allah, and a cause of receiving the Messenger's invocations. Indeed these (spendings in Allah's Cause) are an approach for them. Allah will admit them to His Mercy. Certainly Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
100. （イスラームの）先達は、第１は（マッカからの）遷移者と、（遷移者を迎え助けたマディーナの）援助者と、善い行いをなし、かれらに従った者たちである。アッラーはかれらを愛でられ、かれらもまたかれに満悦する。かれは川が下を永遠に流れる楽園を、かれらのために備え、そこに永遠に住まわせられる。それは至上の幸福の成就である。
And the first to embrace Islam of the Muhajirun (those who migrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah) and the Ansar (the citizens of Al-Madinah who helped and gave aid to the Muhajirun) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allah is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.
101. あなたがたの周囲の（遊牧の）アラビア人の中にも、またマディーナの市民の中にも、背信者がいる。かれらは偽善に執着している。あなたはかれらを知らない。だがわれは知っている。かれは２回にわたりかれらを懲罰し、その後かれらは、重い懲罰にかけられるであろう。
And among the bedouins round about you, some are hypocrites, and so are some among the people of Al-Madinah, they exaggerate and persist in hypocrisy, you (O Muhammad SAW) know them not, We know them. We shall punish them twice, and thereafter they shall be brought back to a great (horrible) torment.
102. 外のある者は、自分の誤ちを認めるが、善行と、外の不行跡が混っている。アッラーは、かれらの悔悟を許される。本当にアッラーは寛容にして慈悲深くあられる。
And (there are) others who have acknowledged their sins, they have mixed a deed that was righteous with another that was evil. Perhaps Allah will turn unto them in forgiveness. Surely, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
103. かれらの財産から施しを受け取らせるのは、あなたが、かれらをそれで清めて罪滅しをさせ、またかれらのために祈るためである。本当にあなたの祈りは、かれらへの安らぎである。アッラーは全聴にして全知であられる。
Take Sadaqah (alms) from their wealth in order to purify them and sanctify them with it, and invoke Allah for them. Verily! Your invocations are a source of security for them, and Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
104. アッラーが、しもべたちの悔悟を赦し、また施しを受け入れられることをかれらは知らないのか。またアッラーこそは、度々悔悟を赦される御方、情け深い方であられることを（知らないのか）。
Know they not that Allah accepts repentance from His slaves and takes the Sadaqat (alms, charities) and that Allah Alone is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, Most Merciful?
105. （かれらに）言ってやるがいい。「（善い事を）行え。アッラーはあなたがたの行いを御存知であられる。かれの使徒と信者たちもまた（見ている）。やがてあなたがたは、幽玄界と現象界を知っておられる方に帰される。その時かれは、あなたがたにその行ったことを告げ知らせる。」
And say (O Muhammad SAW) "Do deeds! Allah will see your deeds, and (so will) His Messenger and the believers. And you will be brought back to the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen. Then He will inform you of what you used to do."
106. その外に、アッラーが懲罰なされるのか、または悔悟を赦されるのか、かれの裁決を待たされる者がいる。本当にアッラーは全知にして英明であられる。
And others await Allah's Decree, whether He will punish them or will forgive them. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
107. また（イスラームの）妨害と不信心（の助長）のために、一座のマスジドを建立した者があり、それで信者の間を分裂させ、また先にアッラーとその使徒に対して戦った者のための、隠れ家とする者がある。しかも（口先では）、「わたしたちは、只善いことを行うだけです。」と誓う。だがアッラーは、かれらが確かに偽っていることを立証される。
And as for those who put up a mosque by way of harming and disbelief, and to disunite the believers, and as an outpost for those who warred against Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) aforetime, they will indeed swear that their intention is nothing but good. Allah bears witness that they are certainly liars.
108. あなたがたは決してその中で（礼拝に）立ってはならない。最初の日から敬虔に礎えを定めて建立されたマスジドこそは、あなたがたがそこに立つに相応しい。その中には、自ら清浄であることを好む人びとがいる。アッラーは、その身を清める者を愛でられる。
Never stand you therein. Verily, the mosque whose foundation was laid from the first day on piety is more worthy that you stand therein (to pray). In it are men who love to clean and to purify themselves. And Allah loves those who make themselves clean and pure (i.e. who clean their private parts with dust [i.e. to be considered as soap) and water from urine and stools, after answering the call of nature].
109. アッラーを畏れ、かれの御喜びを求めてその家の礎えを定め建てる者と、砕け崩れそうな崖のふちにその家の礎えを定めて建て、地獄の火の中に共に砕け落ちる者と、どちらが優れているか。アッラーは不義を行う民を導かれない。
Is it then he, who laid the foundation of his building on piety to Allah and His Good Pleasure, better, or he who laid the foundation of his building on an undetermined brink of a precipice ready to crumble down, so that it crumbled to pieces with him into the Fire of Hell. And Allah guides not the people who are the Zalimun (cruel, violent, proud, polytheist and wrong-doer).
110. かれらの建てた建物は、かれらの心が細かく砕かれない限り、かれらの心中の疑惑不安の種となろう。アッラーは全知にして英明であられる。
The building which they built will never cease to be a cause of hypocrisy and doubt in their hearts, unless their hearts are cut to pieces. (i.e. till they die). And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
111. 本当にアッラーは、信者たちからその生命と財産を贖われた。かれらのため（の代償）は、楽園である。かれらはアッラーの道のために戦い、殺し、また殺される。それは律法と福音とクルアーンとを通じて、かれが結ばれる真実な約束である。誰がアッラー以上に、約束に忠実であろうか。だからあなたがたが結んだ契約を喜べ。それこそは至上の幸福の成就である。
Verily, Allah has purchased of the believers their lives and their properties; for the price that theirs shall be the Paradise. They fight in Allah's Cause, so they kill (others) and are killed. It is a promise in truth which is binding on Him in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) and the Quran. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? Then rejoice in the bargain which you have concluded. That is the supreme success.
112. 悔悟して（アッラーに）返る者、仕える者、讃える者、斎戒する者、立礼する者、サジダする者、善を勧める者、悪を禁ずる者、そしてアッラーが定められた限界を守る者。これらの信者たちに、この吉報を伝えなさい。
(The believers whose lives Allah has purchased are) those who repent to Allah (from polytheism and hypocrisy, etc.), who worship Him, who praise Him, who fast (or go out in Allah's Cause), who bow down (in prayer), who prostrate themselves (in prayer), who enjoin (people) for Al-Ma'ruf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all what Islam has ordained) and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism of all kinds and all that Islam has forbidden), and who observe the limits set by Allah (do all that Allah has ordained and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which Allah has forbidden). And give glad tidings to the believers.
113. 多神教徒のために、御赦しを求めて祈ることは、仮令近親であっても、かれらが業火の住人であることが明らかになった後は、預言者にとり、また信仰する者にとり妥当ではない。
It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allah's Forgiveness for the Mushrikun (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief).
114. イブラーヒームが自分の父のために、御赦しを求めて祈ったのは、只かれ（父）と約束があったためである。それでかれ（父）がアッラーの敵であることが明白になった時、かれ（父）との関係を断った。本当にイブラーヒームは、柔和で辛抱強い人物であった。
And [Ibrahim's (Abraham)] invoking (of Allah) for his father's forgiveness was only because of a promise he [Ibrahim (Abraham)] had made to him (his father). But when it became clear to him [Ibrahim (Abraham)] that he (his father) is an enemy to Allah, he dissociated himself from him. Verily Ibrahim (Abraham) was Al-Awwah (has fifteen different meanings but the correct one seems to be that he used to invoke Allah with humility, glorify Him and remember Him much), and was forbearing. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubi).
115. アッラーは、人びとを導かれた後、かれらの守るべきことを解明されるまでは決して迷わせたりしない。本当にアッラーは凡てのことを知っておられる。
And Allah will never lead a people astray after He has guided them until He makes clear to them as to what they should avoid. Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of everything.
116. 天と地の大権はアッラーに属する。かれは生を与え、また死を与える。アッラーの外に、あなたがたには守護者も援助者もないのである。
Verily, Allah! Unto Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, He gives life and He causes death. And besides Allah you have neither any Wali (protector or guardian) nor any helper.
117. アッラーは、預言者と苦難の時にかれに従った遷移者たち〔ムハージルーン〕と援助者たち〔アンサール〕に哀れみをかけられた。その後かれらの一部の者の心は、（その義務の履行から）殆んど逸れてしまった。その時かれはかれらに、哀れみをかけられた。本当にかれは、かれら（ムスリム）に親切であり慈悲深くあられる。
Allah has forgiven the Prophet (SAW), the Muhajirun (Muslim emigrants who left their homes and came to Al-Madinah) and the Ansar (Muslims of Al-Madinah) who followed him (Muhammad SAW) in the time of distress (Tabuk expedition, etc.), after the hearts of a party of them had nearly deviated (from the Right Path), but He accepted their repentance. Certainly, He is unto them full of Kindness, Most Merciful.
118. 後に残った３人に対しても（またかれは哀れみをかけられた）。大地はこのように広いのだがかれらには狭く感じられ、またその魂も自分を（内面から）狭めるようになった。そしてかれらは、アッラーに縋る外にはかれ（の懲罰）から免れるすべがないことを悟った。すると（主は）哀れみをかけられ、かれらは悔悟して（かれに）返った。本当にアッラーは度々赦される方、慈悲深い方であられる。
And (He did forgive also) the three [who did not join the Tabuk expedition (whom the Prophet SAW)] left (i.e. he did not give his judgement in their case, and their case was suspended for Allah's Decision) till for them the earth, vast as it is, was straitened and their ownselves were straitened to them, and they perceived that there is no fleeing from Allah, and no refuge but with Him. Then, He accepted their repentance, that they might repent (unto Him). Verily, Allah is the One Who accepts repentance, Most Merciful.
119. あなたがた信仰する者たちよ、アッラーを畏れ、（言行の）誠実な者と一緒にいなさい。
O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds).
120. マディーナの人びとも周辺の（遊牧の）アラビア人たちも、アッラーの使徒のあとに居残って、自分の身命をかれのものより大切にするなど間違っている。かれらがアッラーの道のために、渇き、疲れ、餓えに会う度に、また不信者を怒らせる行（攻賂）に出向く度に、敵に何らかの打撃を与える度に、かれらに対してもそのことが善行として記録されるのである。本当にアッラーは、正しい行いの者への報奨を無益にされない。
It was not becoming of the people of Al-Madinah and the bedouins of the neighbourhood to remain behind Allah's Messenger (Muhammad SAW when fighting in Allah's Cause) and (it was not becoming of them) to prefer their own lives to his life. That is because they suffer neither thirst nor fatigue, nor hunger in the Cause of Allah, nor they take any step to raise the anger of disbelievers nor inflict any injury upon an enemy but is written to their credit as a deed of righteousness. Surely, Allah wastes not the reward of the Muhsinun
121. 大なり小なり（道のため）費やしたもの、また一つの谷を越えたことが、必ずかれらのために記録されている。アッラーはかれらの行ったことに対して、最上（の報奨）をもって報われる。
Nor do they spend anything (in Allah's Cause) - small or great - nor cross a valley, but is written to their credit, that Allah may recompense them with the best of what they used to do (i.e. Allah will reward their good deeds according to the reward of their best deeds which they did in the most perfect manner).
122. 信者は、全員が一斉に出動すべきではない。各団のうち一部が、出動し、そして残留者は宗教に就いて理解を深め、皆が帰った時かれらに警告を与える。恐らく出動した者は注意するであろう。
And it is not (proper) for the believers to go out to fight (Jihad) all together. Of every troop of them, a party only should go forth, that they (who are left behind) may get instructions in (Islamic) religion, and that they may warn their people when they return to them, so that they may beware (of evil).
123. 信仰する者よ、あなたがたに近い不信者と戦え。そして、あなたがたが意志堅固で力強いことを、かれらに知らせなさい。アッラーは主を畏れる者と共におられることを知れ。
O you who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are close to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who are the Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2).
124. （新たに）１章〔スーラ〕が下る度にかれらのある者は言う。「これによってあなたがたの中、誰が信心を深めるであろうか。」本当に信仰する者は、これによって信心を深め、喜ぶ。
And whenever there comes down a Surah (chapter from the Quran), some of them (hypocrites) say: "Which of you has had his Faith increased by it?" As for those who believe, it has increased their Faith, and they rejoice.
125. しかし心に病の宿る者は、これによって汚れの上に汚れを加えて、不信者として死ぬ。
But as for those in whose hearts is a disease (of doubt, disbelief and hypocrisy), it will add suspicion and doubt to their suspicion, disbelief and doubt, and they die while they are disbelievers.
126. かれらは毎年、１度や２度試みられるのに気付かないのか。それでもかれらは悔悟せず、また改心しないのである。
See they not that they are tried once or twice every year (with different kinds of calamities, disease, famine, etc.)? Yet, they turn not in repentance, nor do they learn a lesson (from it).
127. かれらは１章〔スーラ〕が下る度に、互いに顧みて（目で言う）。「誰かが、あなたがたを見ているのか。」、やがてかれらは背き去る。かれらは悟らない民であるために、アッラーはその心を（真理から）背かせられたのである。
And whenever there comes down a Surah (chapter from the Quran), they look at one another (saying): "Does any one see you?" Then they turn away. Allah has turned their hearts (from the light) because they are a people that understand not.
128. 今、使徒があなたがたにあなたがたの間から、やって来た。かれは、あなたがたの悩みごとに心を痛め、あなたがたのため、とても心配している。信者に対し優しく、また情深い。
Verily, there has come unto you a Messenger (Muhammad SAW) from amongst yourselves (i.e. whom you know well). It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty. He (Muhammad SAW) is anxious over you (to be rightly guided, to repent to Allah, and beg Him to pardon and forgive your sins, in order that you may enter Paradise and be saved from the punishment of the Hell-fire), for the believers (he SAW is) full of pity, kind, and merciful.
129. だからかれらが背き去っても言ってやるがいい。「わたしには、アッラーがいれば十分である。かれの外に神はない。わたしはかれを信頼する。かれこそは、（栄光に満ちた）至高の玉座の主であられる。」
But if they turn away, say (O Muhammad SAW): "Allah is sufficient for me. La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), in Him I put my trust and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.
